Power Outage

I was looking forward to a boring night inside when the power went out in my neighborhood. I have 5 battery backup units for my computers and have been surfing the net uninterrupted for over an hour so far. Now, I'm considering actually going out. Anyone else's night take an unexpected turn?

i was sitting at the computer and the 40 watt bulb in the lamp dimmed and then died right before my eyes. it's a rarity to actually catch your bulb gradually die. makes you think something wierd is going on...

I only have one computer that I use much. I think my UPS is rated at around 20 minutes.</p>

I think my UPS is rated at around 20 minutes.</p><p>I have a server system with a two-battery backup, and a desktop with it's own backup that also has the router plugged into it, plus an older backup unit that has the dsl modem plugged into it. Then I have a backup in my room primarily for my sequencer and speakers and then one more unit in a bedroom fpr the tv and satellite receiver. But when the power goes out, I kill all the systems except my notebook (which has its own 4+ hr battery) so I can keep the net going and lamps and whatnot. In case you were wondering, I have no life whatsoever.</p><p>&nbsp;I ended up just going to the strip club down the street that's open until 5 am. The power still wasn't back up after 5 hours.</p>

It so strange you mention this.&nbsp; I was trying to call people on my cell right at midnight and I could not get any calls to go though.&nbsp; It kept saying Network Not Available or something.&nbsp; I had no bars on the cell either until like 12:30.&nbsp; It must have been something overloading somewhere..
