I say he gets in. His career was cut short, but he has Ralph Kiner's numbers. Hayden on SI submitted his ballot and he had Dave Concepcion, Andre Dawson, and Dave Parker all above him. Tommy John too. His statement on Belle was that he was a bad seed. At least he said Blyleven doesn't get in though.

He does not have Kiner's #'s. At the time that Kiner put up his #'s they were remarkable. He led the league in homers for 6 straight years and the NL for 7.

Averaging 40 home runs and 130 RBIs over the course of a career is damn impressive. Plus he overcame personal demons to do so.

Bonilla shouldn't have made it past the screening committee. Neither should have Dante Bichette or Bobby Witt.

Now, if you say no to Belle are you also saying no to Concepcion, Dawson, Parker, Jim Rice, Mattingly, Dale Murphy, and McGwire?

His numbers are much better than Kirby Puckett, for example, but Puckett was a media darling.

He gets in compared to his contemporaries, the only knock on him is he didn't do it long enough. I say bullshit. 10 years is long enough for me. He had 10 HOF years. Other guys who are HOF no brainers have 8-9 years which were not HOF quality. Robin Yount, Boggs, Molitor, Sandberg, all come to mind.
Belle just had the 10, and thats all that matters to me. BTW-Sandy Kofax had FIVE HOF seasons.

With the great short career he had, I still think he needed to get to 400 HR. When your career is cut short you only get in when your #'s were so nuts they have to. In this case he would have needed 400. I do think he may eventually get voted in, but that may be years from now

If you put in Davey Concepcion you have to put in Mark Belanger.

It is like that Fred McGriff argument, he finished his career a few home runs short of 400 and people said it would keep him out. McGriff is borderline in the first place, but I don't see how hitting a couple more homers makes him HOF or not, he is still basically the same player. Same reason why I think Palmeiro should never get in. Especially over Belle.

He should have won MVP that year that Vaughn won too.

All the links I see are sportswriters saying they are happy they won't vote him in because he wasn't a nice guy. I am sure he is a better human being than Ty Cobb. And Koufax, Carlton, and DiMaggio weren't great with the press either.

The hall of fame isnt the hall of fame based on your attitude or the type of person you are. its based on #######"S. These little pieces of shits that could never play the sport always write shit about players and then get mad when the players have an attitude with those same asshole writers. The love being the moral high horse and pick out all the bad and look into others closets. These fuckers are just jelous. Pete Rose should be in the hall and so should Big Mac. Fuck steroids fuck gambling. Ty cobb was a jerk off He deserves the hall.

Back in the day like way back sports writers wouldnt write all the nasty things players did. They did this to keep these guys loved by the fans. Now they try everything they can to find shit out or make shit sound worse to sell paprs, get a name forthemselves and hurt the players they dont like.

You can hate bonds, you can love him but those guys that wrote the book about bonds and steroids were doing it to make a name for themselves and to have the public not respect these players career #'s. Now so many fellow sports writers dont like the fact that these writers may go to jail for not telling who their source was. And I say good. I know the purpose of the media being able to keep their sources annonomys (SP) is so that they actualy get whats going on to the public without fear of getting trouble. But I think that was more meant for goverment not sports. If your going todestroy peoples lives and careers then dont be a little tattle tale girl be a man and be known. Anyone can make shit up to reporters and say dont say who I am and we then have to take that as truth? Fuck no. Do I thin bonds did juice yes, do I care, no.

Go Bonds, Go Mac, and now I want Belle to make it!!!!!!

College baseball hall of fame?

Certainly not the MLB HoF. No chance. Sorry, Joey. A couple more productive years and we'd have a debate, but even then, his prick-like behavior would keep him out.

and dont forget

being suspended for seven games for using a corked bat, chasing kids down for egging his house, throwing another baseball at a photographer, and being suspended for three games for chucking an elbow at tiny Fernando Vina for standing in the base path
