Tyson retired from boxing last year after losing to journeyman Kevin McBride in Washington, D.C. A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Tyson left the ring with a 50-6 record with 44 knockouts.

Should have been the best EVER...such a shame from an entertainment point of view. Now, sadly, I have no feelings one way or another when stories like this come out. I wonder how I would have felt if the story ended, "...and then Tyson ran his sports car into a brick wall at 125mph & was killed on contact."? It would be sad that another human died, but how bad can you feel for this lunatic anymore?

Send the guy to Iraq and let him work out his bloodlust.

He was and is one of my top 5 favorite boxers all time. He shoul have been the best heavyweight ever, but greed and the wrong people around him really did him in. He should have stayed with the guys who brought him up and loved him. He wasnt just a meal ticket to them, he was family. But some asses in the business had to play the race card. Even after he dropped all those who brought him there he was still loved and treated as family.

It really bothers me to see all that waisted talent now turned into a circus show. I love sports, but when something bad happens to a team or an athlete I dont let it get to me b/c its not my life and why should I really care? But with tyson for some reason I always feel bad about the whole story.

alright now, we need to slow down a little bit with "could have been the best ever"... respectfully!

it took a while but history shows that any heavyweight with any kind of good boxing skills that did not let himself be intimidated would beat mike's ass

he was a "straight up, move forward with his head" style of boxer. buster douglas hung tough and beat him silly. evander beat him even sillier. you can say he had an off day or it was late in his career but IMHO he never possessed great boxing skills. he live by intimidation and a knockout punch.

now if you want to talk Rocky Marciano, then you can argue he was the best there ever was and win the argument each and every time

49-0

The amazing thing is he's gone as long as he has without getting into trouble. I was half expecting a James Brown style chase with the tires being shot out.

Tyson had skills once. He used to move his head side to side and come at fighters. After the D'Amato/Rooney era, he slowed down, trained less, stopped the head motion, and probably took bribes. He was my favorite fighter 20 years ago. I has his picture on my wall next to Jim McMahon and Walter Payton. Now he is pathetic. What a waste of life & talent ie; Darryl Strawberry. His best KO was his wife. Then he goes on TV with her and acts like a bitch.

We lost out on many great fights. Tyson should've fought Lewis & Holyfield during the Rooney era and they would have been epic fights.

Don King sucks!

That's why I only watch UFC style fights anymore. Those guys are THE toughest in the world, not the lame ass boxers they parade out there now.
