One of my favorite stories about Ford was he was rushing to get to Air Force One and an aide said, "Sir, you're the President. They're not going to leave without you."

I barely remember him as President but the more I read about him, it seems that his legacy will move from "an accidental President" to "the right man in the right place at the right time".

And now Jimmy Carter is the elder statesman.

Ford is the only President I've ever seen in person. He was in the Fireman's Parade, here in Winchester, in 1975. He was the first President to ride in a parade since Kennedy.

why are we celebrating a man who was handed the office of president, yet never earned a single vote from anywhere outside his homestate? nixons first vp was indicted on money laundering and tax evasion, he resigns, right after nixon gets his econd term, they hand over the reigns to ford, nixon is well, nixon, so we are handed ford who never earned a single vote int he elctoral, note ever as vice president. im just sick of everyone sucking his dick today.

if he was crooked

yes he was president but he never earned a vote as pres or vice pres. he was never on a national ballot. ever. and i personally regard his administration as a watered down form of fascism. and being president doenst mean much when the office is handed to u, just like a diploma doesnt mean much if the only reason u got into the school was because of the donoations your parents gave.

as crooked as nixon is he at least won an election and even more impressive he gave away an election that he shouldve won. i defend him for that. hes a scumbag and all but he was a legitimate president, he duped the american people, and we ate it all up. good for him.

does anyone but me think it's kind of ironic that we get to see the the coffin of this do-nothing president paraded around the country for a week, but the goverment refuses to let the media show us the caskets of our heros when they return from iraq?
