I did Christmas Eve, fish intensive, in deference to the Italian side of the family. Pemaquid oysters with mignonette, Union Square style fried calamari (mix of graham cracker and flour coating, really good) with spicy garlic aioli, jumbo lump crabmeat samosas with ginger-pear chutney, butter poached lobster in cauliflower custard, salt cod fritters, arctic char with meyer lemon sauce, wilted garlicky escarole. Drinks wise, most of a case of Konstantin Frank Riesling and kinda the same dessert as TooCute, although there was the pretense of a cherry almond tart and coffee to go with the 18 y/o Macallan and 15 y/o Laphroaig.

My mom's doing Christmas nice and easy, dry aged Lobels rib roast and a ham with al the trimmings, some pasta dish to start and a fuck load of desserts. I'm just bringing wine and relaxing.

These past few years the holidays have become more and more "regular" days. No big feasts this year, I guess because slowly everyone is moving out of state.
