Has anyone had any success going that route?

Dude, I was in the same boat, and I went with the patch, and it worked. It took a couple of times, I have to be honest - quitting for a couple of weeks, taking off the patch and smoking, then getting back to the patch after a couple of weeks, but the patch really helps you get used to living without taking the time to smoke. I found that the patch took the physical craving away, and from there it's just mental, and I was a hard core 2 packs a day guy.

So, go for it. I'm always cautious about being a smug ex smoker, because I hated that when I smoked, but I'm telling you: you'll get to a point where you can't believe you ever smoked. It won't make sense.

<> One other thing:if you go for it, keep it low for a while. Let people notice, instead of telling everyone, because it puts too much pressure on you to live up to everyone else's expectations.
<>Good luck.
Something very strange has happened. I recently switched to American Spirit cigarettes. They're additive free. Without any conscious effort to cut down, I'm smoking half as much as I used to. I went from smoking a pack and a half a day to around 15.

I'm starting to wonder if it's not the nicotine we're addicted to so much as all the chemicals they put in the cigs.

It's been 2 months since my last Cig ... but I think you're 100% right. I smoke a cigar or two a week, but never have any cravings for the nicotine if I don't smoke one.

Edit: To stay on topic, I was a pack a day until the last two years. Then closer to 10 a day.

Are you implying that the big tobacco companies are deceptive?

Absurd.

But I will say, if you smoke the roll-your-own shit for a while and then have a name brand you can definitely taste the chemical-ishness of the name brand. Either way, I like to smoke.

I agree. I had a friend try my brand and she immediately said that there is something about them that makes her want them more.
She mooched several of me that night alone and everytime I am over her house she asks if she can have a few more before I leave.

Little over a half pack. If I'm not drinking 6. Of course I usually stop by the bar on the way home for about 4 beers so a little over half a pack

effectively none, other than the random bar event where i can rip thru half-a-pack with little to no effort. used to smoke like 35-45 a day on average in the early 90s.

I smoke about 15 cigarettes a day now, so if i switched to those, i probably should just quit. i smoke parliament menthol lights. god i love menthol. its sooo bad for you, yet soooo good.

and fuck you in advance to the people who dont smoke. you with your silly "you shouldnt smoke" nonsense.

I smoked American Spirits religiously for 10 years. I quit as soon as my chick and I found out we were having a kid with no problems at all. Any other kind of cigarette just smells like burning dog shit to me. Now I smoke cigars when I feel like puffing on something.

Marlboro Smooths, about a pack a day, sometimes less 'cause at work I gotta leave the property & go smoke out on the street. It's magic how they managed to make a smoke that tastes like a thin mint cookie.
