I heard about this last week. The CEO got $40 million. I think all together over 16 billion were paid out as GS had a record year for profits. The average salary was over 600 g's. I work in the financial services industry and know a couple of people who used to work for GS. They got compensated generously but they would put in on average 60-80 hrs per week

http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-bonus16dec16,1,2822566.story?track=rss

I'm an Executive Assistant, and I interviewed with them in Manhattan 3 years ago before I went with my current job. I went through 5 interviews and was under final consideration and didn't take the job. The pay was ridiculous high for an assistant and they said the bonuses were high as well. I didn't take it because they kept asking questions over and over like "Can you take people yelling at you a lot?", "How do you handle extreme stress?" "What would you do if someone threw something at you?"

It's funny you say that Missy because when my brother interviewed for them, he described his work background and his graduate degree, etc. When he mentioned that he had coached basketball, the interviewers perked up. Too them, that was the more important qualification since he was experienced in handling stress and pressure,

I have plenty of stress and pressure and I dont get 100K bonuses. Bring it on, baby.

I heard the tax revenue from just the bonuses is well over few billion for the state and NYC ... now that's cool.

HOW ABOUT A F'N TAX BREAK THEN!?

It's not like I would go cry, but I worked for a doctor a long time ago, and he started arrogantly yelling at me for being, literally 5 minutes later, and I lost it and said "Fuck you Dr. ____" and walked out.

If I had to deal with swearing, yelling and throwing I'd just block it out with the visions of me counting my money at years end.

Or I'd just buy a hooker and let her help me releive stress... Then I'd cry on her lap.

This isn't worth a new thread, so I'll just put it here.

My boss gave everyone a $50 bonus yesterday. After we all got them, we started a drive to get 5 bucks from everyone, to get the boss a nice gift certificate. Five bucks out the 50... not too hard to handle, right?

Well... When this one idiot (Brian) was asked to pitch in, he said "mmmm... Sorry. Not interested". Our boss is a very easy going guy, who will bend over backwards to work things out for his employees. What an ass, this guy is! When we gave the boss the card today, it read "Merry Christmas from everyone... except Brian".

It wasnt just the sales guys or the high execs that got bonuses, Sure they got alot more, but the guys on the trading floor and their ops, accounting guys, the less glamorous part of the business were rewarded. With a company like Goldman 9-5 doesnt exist. Alot of people work at least 60 hours a week , some alot more

you guys almost had me with the " work 60 hours a week ", i almost felt sorry for the bastids. but you know what, there are millions of people working 60 and up to 80 hours a week and are just making it above the poverty level.

in a time when corporations are outsourcing, reducing benefits, laying off, wage freezing, this type of profit is excess.

of course if you are the beneficiary of this wealth then you're gonna have a different opinion. did you work harder than the other people just making ends meet? MAYBE? some of the people just making ends meet went to college just like the people at Goldman Sachs.

i don't see any other way around it other than it is EXCESS. they're not just a beneficiary of hard work, they're a beneficiary of a financial system established in this country that is the stock market.

it used to be just the good blue collar manufacturing jobs had just about ceased to exist, a job where a man or woman could raise a family on the salary and benefits. now it is cutting into white collar jobs, of course starting at the low end, customer service, areas of IT, billing, benefits, all being outsourced.

if you think there is no affect to the excessive salaries and benefits made by a few to the detriment of others than you are just playing stupid...
