Do you believe in any paranormal or occult phenomena, such as ghosts, UFOs, ESP, Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, voodoo, etc?

While I'm reluctant to ascribe inexplicable occurences to "magic" or "unseen forces" I do know that there are a great many things that our scientists simply cannot explain and/or understand. I remain skeptical, but open-minded on some of them.

How 'bout you?

The paranormal, spirits, etc...you better believe I believe it! I have had/seen thngs happen that I will say were real! I even had this discussion with Fez a few weeks ago. I asked him about the spirit that was coming to him that he spoke about on the air. I have had too many things happen within the last year actually to not believe.

And yes I also beleive in Karma, past lives, etc. UFO's I don't know, but why do we like to thing we are the only ones around?

i find it hard to believe that we are the only planet (in this vast universe that as far as we know with our limited knowledge has no boudries) is capable of life

maybe they are only as intelligent as us and havent figured a way to get here, maybe they are a few thousand years behind or ahead of us, and in the case of the latter maybe they ocassionally fly by but see nothing interesting and move on

i dont know if i beleive in ghosts as much as i think maybe its 2 parallell dimensions briefly coming together or somehow the past and present coexist for a few seconds and we briefly see each other and then it goes away

loch ness... well there is a number i forget what it is something like 75% of the earth oceans have still been uncharted by humans so who knows what creatures are out there that we have no clue about so i believe this is possible, some creature that got lost and wound up there and ocassionally surfaces

bigfoot same as loch ness its possible but with all the deforestation and increasing population around the country and world i would think even by accident that we would see something by now

I got ya Gvac, we'll weed out the witches and persecute them after the list is compiled. I'll grab the stake and the gasoline!

Not buying any of it. If you told me one of the following was real: ESP, UFOs, God, ghosts, Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, voodoo or witchcraft, past or future lives, karma, a human soul, Fez's fiance, a straight male ballet dancer, or the female orgasm - I'd put my money on Nessy!

I don't usually get caught up in the stuff, but where my grandma lives in southwestern iowa, there was an axe murderer in 1912 that killed a whole family and two little girls who were visiting for the night. So 8 people were hacked up by an axe. The murder was never solved, but many of the town's elite were implicated. The house still stands and its right in the middle of the town. Its the eeriest thing you've ever seen. I don't like walking by it. Why the whole thing hasn't been turned into a movie is the one thing i don't get. So anyways a group of psychics went into the house and their movies are creepy. My grandma and cousin stayed overnight at the house and said a lot of weird things happened. Here is the site

P.R.I.S.M. - Paranormal Research & Investigative Studies Midwest ...

There is a book on it which gives a great historical account of it, and a movie where my grandma is in it. She's the city clerk, and the coolest. There is also a more historical website, www.villiscaiowa.com that tells about the background of the murders.

The night my grandmother died I was watching Johnny Carson (for you
youngsters he was before Leno) and I heard my grandmothers voice twice call
out my name. At least it sounded like her. I got up and asked my wife who
was in bed if she called me. She said no. The next morning I told her about
how I thought I heard my grandma call my name. About 15 minutes later my
mom called and told me that my grandmother had a heart attack around 11:35
and had died the night before.

If I hadn't told my wife about hearing the voice before I got the call I'm not sure
I would believe it myself. But there it is.

I've never had another experience like that since but I do believe there is
something else beyond this world.

How about odd coincidences or parallel thought? Have you ever thought of a song you haven't heard in years and then all of a sudden it's on the radio? Or you think of somebody you haven't spoken to in a long time and they call you out of the blue?

Is it all simply happenstance, or something more?

When I was in catholic grammar school, being beaten regularly but not severely by penguins, a strange and wondrous thing occurred.

This must have been 6th or 7th grade. One of the girls stated, in oozing sensual ecstasy, that she had seen one the statues of the virgin mary in the church move while she knelt in prayer before it. The next day, some other girls also saw it move, and soon a whole gaggle of nubile plaid skirted sprites were acting like they were going to take off all their clothes and start dancing around a cauldron together. ( I was not opposed to this development and spectated in gawking awe).

Well, the penguins finally got wind of it and all hell (hee hee) broke loose. Parents were called. the monsignor came a'callin. He held a mandatory conference, and even brought glossy photographs of the statue when it was first installed and photos of it now to prove it was the same old piece of plaster in the same stance. He explained in authoritarian and coercive detail exactly what would happen if the drama did not cease forthwith. (Blowhard Fuckface that he was!)

This was my first experience with paranormal stuff and hysteria. I still like them both.

If I was female, I'd be a witch. their so hot!

I used to do Tarot cards in high school; got me invited to lots of parties. When the "cards were right", however, people would get mad at me and my interpretation of the deck. I heard once that if you're into Jung you influence the cards you draw, and that the chance therein reflects your own mental state. I haven't played in 8 years though.

The ghost picture thread got me thinking of some weird stuff.

Sometimes when I get in bed at night and close my eyes hundreds of faces flash before me, like a high speed movie being played on my eyelids. I'm still awake when this occurs, definitely not dreaming. It's typically when I'm exhausted and the second I lay down this happens.

I think it's everybody I'd seen during the day and their images have been recorded into my subconscious mind. Maybe it's something else...who knows?

Anybody else ever experience this?

Wow... seriously, this happens to me too. The faces usually start out normally and sometimes they morph into hideously ugly ones, and they're all just staring back at me. It just started happening to me within the past 3 years, but it happens at least twice a month. My explaination was that the little light in the room was playing off my eyelids, creating shapes that I was associating with peoples' faces. Yours is way better!

This used to creep me out a lot, but somehow knowing it happens to you too makes me feel a LOT better about it!

To eschew science in favor of mysticism is folly.

The opposite, however, is also true.

I just got up from my desk to go to the bathroom and walked through a cold spot.

I mean a seriously cold spot. It's nowhere near any windows so there isn't a draft or anything, but it had to be 15-20 degrees colder in this one area than anywhere else in the house.

Creepy.
