Between Iraq and Afghanistan, so far the cost is about $350 billion, Wouldn't it be a good idea for the Feds to issue war bonds, like during WW2. This way the war can be financed and people who buy bonds can receive interest payments and receive the full amount on maturity. I think another idea should be that the gov't impose a national tax. I believe this is the only time in history when taxes were lowered during wartime. We all know that there is not really a war effort here among civilians, many people really dont care whats going on, A raise in taxes or buying war bonds can really show "Supporting the Troops"

I agree with you partialy, but we should over tax all the companies that are profiting from the war. There are companies making billions and stealing just as much, we should tax them more then they have ever been taxed before.

I think we should also send Bush's twin daughters over to Iraq. That would really show the support of our president. He says he believes hes doing the right thing over there and he wouldnt put americans in harms way if he didnt truly believe this. So show us Mr Bush, send the twins over to Iraq they arent do much but going to other countries and partying.

The problem with instituting a "temporary" tax like that is that its very liekly it won't end up being temporary. They aren't going to walk away from a revenue stream like that. The simplest answer is that they shouldn't have cut taxes as much as they did in the first place.

Come on Campo, don't you know the Bush girls are too busy getting thrown out of Brazil for partying too hard for their birthday to support the troops. These girls have been on the front line like her daddy on this war on the liver since day one. Think about it, they got tossed from a country like BRAZIL! Now that's tough to do.

And good luck on taxing us based on a war where over 60% of the nation thinks we shouldn't be there. And war bonds aren't a good idea right now as inflation and our economy really couldn't take it. The fed is a mess right now.

No one gets thrown out of Brazil.

We're already financing the war through selling debt - China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, et al. are buying it, for now at least.

The tax revenue coming into the federal treasury has gone up because of the tax cuts.

99% untrue. If you're going with the urban legend pushed by the Forbes/Weekly Standard crowd that the tax cuts will ultimately pay for themselves, not even Bush's Treasury Dept. will stand behind that one.

http://www.brendan-nyhan.com/blog/2006/10/bush_vs_his_eco.html
