View Full Version : Are you a sports fan?

I'm curious because my husband is NOT a fan and I feel like I found the only guy in the world who doesn't like sports, he has many other interests to occupy his time.

I feel bad for him sometimes though because I'm constantly watching it and he is always being asked by guys 'did you see the game' or 'what do you think of the Cowboys this year' and he has to explain that he doesn't follow it.

Does this happen to anyone else? Are there any more of you out there?

He isnt a fan of any sport? What are his other interests? I know I have been a sports fan my whole life. There are times when I may lose some interest now and then but not with every sport that I like. IMO most guys either watch sports because they played them as a child or have kids and stating to get their kids involved in sports.

I'm a huge sports fan. The year starts with the NFL playoffs, I try to get into the NHL during the "down months" (& then stick with it through the playoffs...there's just about nothing better than playoff hockey). Then I'm counting the days till pitchers & catchers, then waiting for the regular season. The minute the MLB season starts, I'm already waiting for the NFL to start again.

Love, love, love sports. But, it's probably at least part of why I'm alone.

Red Sox, Celtics, NCAA hoops, and I play golf (not as often as I'd like). That's all I care about.
I follow baseball and play golf (although I barely got out to play this year). I don't follow any other sports though.

I follow Philly's teams. But never read the sports page and couldn't tell you who was on the team until I'm watching the game. As soon as the season is over, I won't think about again until next season.

It just doesn't grab me. Although ever since I started bartending, I have sponged a lot more information.

I'm a big fan of baseball and hockey so that pretty much keeps me going year round. I like football when there's no baseball or hockey on. After that, it's soccer. I'll watch basketball only as a last resort though I do like going to Nets games.

My sister's (soon to be ex)husband wasn't much of a sports fan which was sometimes a problem because she's a huge Devils fan. He tried being a fan but he never got into it.

i'll watch anything sport related

love football, baseball, hockey, basketball, soccer, hell i've even watched rugby and australian rules football

i even started watching bowling and golf just b/c there isnt anything better on at that time

I'm a huge baseball, football, and hockey fan. Lately I'm enjoying soccer too. I'll watch championship tennis matches if nothing else is on, and I can watch billiards on ESPN for hours.

as i get older i am getting less into every sport except baseball. it seems as though i watch more and more baseball every year.

it might have something to do with all the other sports being dumb.

That's what I figured, 12 out of 21 of you voted you were huge fans.

Crip, do you really think that it contributes to you being single? That's interesting because even though my dad is a huge fan and thinks it's funny I found a non-fan, he also thinks it's good because we balance each other out. If we were both fans like me we probably would never do anything but watch/go to sporting events.

He played lots of sports growing up but in high school he ran cross country. We play tennis together but the real reason he's not really into it is because he's just so active. He hates sitting down for that long. He has a much better tolerance for sports when we are actually THERE.

Someone asked what he was into....since he was a kid he's been building model airplanes, in a past life he was a DJ so he still has lots of music equipment he likes to play with or he'd rather exercise or watch a movie. We're total opposites but that's one of the things I love about us.

It's nearly impossible not to be a rabid sports fan in the Boston area. Everyone up here, from grandmothers to little kids are wearing a Sox cap or a Brady/Bruschi/Dillon jersey. Even though it was enemy territory to me when I moved up here, I couldn't help but be caught up in the incredible enthusiasm that the people have up here for their teams.

Its just the accents that annoy me.

Your husband isn't weird or alone. I'm not a fan of any sports and follow none of them.

I can sit down and have a football game hold my attention for a short time, but a majority of it just doesn't matter to me. I used to be able to watch a whole baseball game. The last time I tired was a few years ago and I found myself looking for something else to hold my attention.

She was not into being a "football widow."

What really kills me about watching sports is the commentary. Even the guys I like, which aren't many, just say the most obvious, stupid, lame, and again, obvious statements.

Well, they have to run the ball and get it into the endzone to score.

If they want to get ahead, they're going to have to score.

Football is the worst. There hasn't been a game where I didn't cringe listening to ... what? What is the purpose???!!!!

Baseball.. the inane little stories they tell between pitches. Just awful.

I can't even watch the NBA.

The only sport I can actually tolerate is Hockey. Because it's fast and the announcers just tell you who has the puck, where it's going, and SCORE!!!!!! It's perfect, you don't have to listen to stupid filler.

damn straight football has slowness problems too.

in baseball, theres a possiblity that one guy will score, then another one will score immediately after him, and then maybe another.....football takes long boring minutes to even get 4 chances to maybe score. and even when they do...i couldnt care less. unless i have money on it.

so if u wanna "speed up" sports.....lets just tape the football games too, and start every possession at 4th down and see what they can do with that.

Detroit Tigers, Red Wings, Lions, Pistons. Michigan State, Kansas Jayhawks. I do care about all of them and as a result hate everyother team everywhere. I don't watch them all the time, except the Tigers. I have a life to live.

I am such a psycho about my teams that my wife almost can't be around me when I'm watching. I'm an insane Mets, Jets and Islanders fan (as you may be able to tell from the avatar). When the Mets played the Yanks in the 2000 Series and Benitez blew game one, I was screaming at the TV to the point where I had to leave the house and take a walk or I'd have broken something. The same thing happened when the Jets blew a 10-0 halftime lead to the Broncos in the AFC championship game a few years back.

I definitely have a mental problem and should probably seek professional help.
