I know a lot of you use utorrent or bit torrent to download shows, music, videos etc. Have any of you been having problems latley? I have noticed that everytime I download torrents my wireless signal shows that it is receiving a signal but no data is being transfered. I then unplug the router/modem combo and plug it back in and then it works again for a couple hours and then freezes again, even though my signal strength says excellent. This has been going on for 4 or 5 days. Its not just my computer that stop receiving the data. The other wireless computer in my house will stop working as well until you unplug and then plug it back in.

Its not the router/modem b/c as soon as this started I contacted verizon and they sent me a new router/modem and I thought it would not happen again. It did so it wasnt the old modem or the new one, unless they are both broke.

I'm wondering could it be isp's notice the increase and continued use of large bandwidth and shut you off so you cant download or maybe they know your using a torrent and have some new agreement with tv, the music industry, etc?

Has anyone else had these or any problems? Should I cancel Verizon and switch to comcast? any help let me know thanks

Verizon cutting you off MIGHT be possible but the only thing I've heard of is ISPs capping download speeds or shutting off ports that BitTorrent uses. That's not what's ahppening with you though. I actually highly doubt that's what Verizon is doing because something like this would just cause them a lot of customer service headaches.

It might be an issue with your wireless adapter in your computer or its drivers. You might want to try reinstalling it.

both computers are relativly new and have built in wireless cards so I have no idea how to reinstall them. I have been running tests on the modem/router and it seems to be working fine. Maybe its the new bit torrent software? I doubt it b/c I know my cousin uses it and he hasnt had this problem. He has comcast, I'm starting to think its a verizon thing or they are limiting the amount of bandwidth and freezing service. Somethings up I just cant figure it out. All I do know is I can not use utorrent or bit torrent for longer then 30-min to an hour before it stops and I cant seem to download a full file. This really sucks bug c...

My best torrent experience was with Cablevision. Comcast has some SERIOUS capping issues on uploads, and it's so-so on DLs. Cablevision was just RIDICULOUS bandwidth.

I'd switch to Cablevision cable internet in a SECOND if I could.
