I recently got the Tivo transfer software, and was wondering if anyone knew a good program for editing the video so I can take out the commercials? Also a program that I can extract audio from the video files? Thanks

If you can give some info i can help..

I need to know:

What processor do you have?

How much RAM do you have?

How much HD (harddrive) space? How manys HD's do you have? Size(s) 40gig? 100gig? 7200 RPM?

Why? Well if you have enough RAM it will go faster, same with a faster processor. Also encoding a file located on C: and having it saved to D: will increase speed too, cuz one drive will read while the other writes.

To strip audio out of a video file you can use VirtualDub, I use VirtualDub MOD, has a few more codecs and options available. You need a good Codec pack installed also. If this is all gibberish, just ask and i will help.

Hey. VirtualDub is good for a lot of things, but it won't do the kind of MPEG-2 editing you'll likely need for Tivo data. I don't know of a free program like it right-offhand, but TMPGEnc's MPEG Editor is great.

If you find yourself in need of codecs, just download ffdshow. It encodes/decodes almost everything, audio and video.

Anyone have both a tivo and a PSP? My brother and I both have Tivos, and I bought my brother a PSP and a 512 memory card for his birthday. I stuck the first episode of Life on Mars on it, and was surprised that the hour of video only took up 1/2 the card, quality wasn't too bad either. I was thinking of showing him how to transfer the video to his psp, supposedly the software from tivo lets you convert the files to psp format. He's an actor and is big into TV. He was also in "Gap" .

the codec for PSP use is MP4 (x264 or h264) and 1 episode of a show should compress to about 90-100mb (i think per half hour) i have a PSP. Does your bros PSP have the Firmware installed on it that came with it or Custom... if its the right version I can give you the files to turn it into a v1.5, or a 2.71SE custom, both will play ISO's. 2.71se will play them without a ISO loader tho.
