if you say indian food is better than italian food either you have no taste or you're lying. Of course I haven't had much Indian food but italian food rocks.
EDIT: What makes Italian food great is how it can be major meal or a simple thing like pizza you can get anytime when you just want a snack.

It's not an entree, but a "Samosa Chat" (pronounced chAHT) will get my mouth watering every time. It's just a simple appetizer/dessert, but it is sooooo good. Most people don't know what it is, and most Indian Restaurants won't make it, but if they do, get it. You won't be disappointed.

Im not a big indian food eater, but there is one case where indian food kicks the poop out of italian: bread! Nan at an indian restaurant will beat any bread on the table of any italian food restaurant, except for maybe the most tasty of garlic knots, but those are few and far between!

Please do not insult my Sicilian heritage by even thinking there is a cuisine out there that can even compare to Italian food! It is quite simply as good as it gets.
My favortite? Arancini, a "rice ball" of sorts, stuffed with beef, green peas, and cheese, and then breaded and deep fried. They vary in size depending on the chef, but on a good day, I can gobble down a half dozen softball-sized ones!

I have a really sensitive sense of smell, and for some reason, the smell of an Indian restaurant is just a stench I cannot deal with. I don't know what it is, the smell of the joint is just BAD.
I *heart* Italian Food. I'm always in the mood for chicken parm, or at the very basic, a toasted italian sub.

Italian food, hands down.
Indian food was never my favorite. A little spicy for my taste.

Italian food is my favorite.
I love (but can't spell) Chicken Francaise and Chicken Scaperiello
Sheeplovr, comparing Italian food vs. Indian food wouldn't be considered racist, because they are from the same race (Caucasians: European, North African or Southwest Asian - They all descended from the Caucasus Mountains)
Also, comparing food from different races is not racist, but comparing different people from different races, THAT would be racist (besides, there are only 3 races to choose from anyway)

Just a point: Curry was originaly made the way it is (Strong smell and flavor) to cover up the smell and taste of meat that may not be that fresh and may almost be rancid. (Heard this on a PBS cooking show) Now I'm not saying that's why it's still that way, but when it's it's origin, I'd rather pass.
I used to have a British boss that would always treat me to Indian food and I can tell you every time I ate it. it got me sick. The only time I get sick with Italian food is when I can't stop eating it. My uncle's shrimp parmigan is the best. Huge shrimp, home made sauce, fresh cheese. Now I'm hungry.

Okay, can I just say that all
you people are totally
uncultured and have no taste??
LOL no i don't actually mean
that. Actually I tihnk tihs is
a silly argument - I mean I
love ALL food (except raw
carrots and celery) and jeez,
this is all opinion! Indian
food isn't bad, in and of
itself - y'all just don't like
it. I'll bet that if you'd
grown up in London - or even
India, imagine that - y'all
would adore it :)
You gotta diversify. Who wants
to cook and eat the same thing
every day?? :)

Well Too Cute, I don't want to argue with a beautiful woman (I have enough things going against me without pissing them off), but I love international foods. I love living in NY because it's one of the only places where you can actually sample all kinds of foods. Greek, Russian, Polish, Middle Eastern (Falafel is my favorite), The only thing I really like of Indian food are the Dumplings(I can't remember the name right now). But you are right, if that were what we grew up on it would be a different story. But that is what comfort foods are all about...

it's true about living in new york, in new york you can really try like 10 different types of Asian foods on any given block.
