For some reason when I'm driving or sitting at my computer listening to music I can only stand to listen to about a minute of every song before I skip to the next one. Even my all time favorites don't get played through.

I don't know why... I love music... but I feel like I need to listen to more songs than I can listen to if I hear them in their entirety.

Not an earth shattering confession... but I think it's odd.

Me too, although it's actually worse for me if someone is in the car with me, then i'm constantly switching around. I think a lot of my issue is that i'm also a car stereo salesman, so if the song sounds good at the beginning but loses it later i'll skip the end. In all fairness a LOT of songs new and old just repeat the same phrase/hook at the end, I've got no time for that.

XM in my pickup is a bad thing because I'll flip to the 50s on 5 and then just scroll up until I get to the "world music" section than go back to 5. I don't have many places that I go that take much longer than one scroll through with all the channels XM has.

I do this only because I'm afraid I'm missing a better song somewhere else.

I used to do the same thing. You're bored. Try expanding the kinds of music you listen to. Great thing about music is there's always something different to check out.

The thing that gets annoying about most pop music is the simplicity and repetition. That's also its initial appeal. Thats one reason its called "Pop" (as in "soda pop"). Pleasing for a minute then soon forgotten. You might be ready to start listening to some Jazz, which has much less repetition. Or if you find the singers and lyrics annoying, try some international stuff (I like Brazilian stuff). PM me if you're interested in some suggestions.

sometimes i'll skip to the next song on a cd during the fade of a previous song

i think what's happening is it's similar to skipping whole songs you do not like on a cd except you're skipping the parts you don't like of single song. i'm sure everyone has a song they love but there might just be a small part of it like the bridge or an instrument solo they don't care for

it's like Can't You Hear Me Knockin by the stones and Magic Carpet Ride by steppenwolf, i love the intros and rhythm but when they get into the spacey lengthy instrumentals at the end of the songs i don't care to listen

I do this with my iPod all fucking day and night. That's why I have thousands of songs on there. I like everything on there because I'm the one who loaded it but I don't always want to hear a certian song. So I'll put it on shuffle and hit forward until I hear something I like. If and when I do, I may turn off shuffle and go to that album to hear more of it.

I don't think what you're doing is a bad thing.

My only problem is that I have become out of touch with much music. I hardly listen anymore. I have become a talk show junky.when I do listen I have to have the right song for the moment and I listen loud.Right now..."ooo ooo love hurts".

I'll add a little weirdness, I'm a big Prog Rock/Metal fan. I'll do what I now call the Death Metal Moe technique and skip around on my Ipod, but if I hit a prog band (Rush, Dreamtheater, Opeth, Devin Townsend are the only ones that apply to this) If I'm in the mood for that band I'll stop, go the first song on the album and enjoy myself. It always sounds weird to me to hear Tom Sawyer on the radio, prog rock should just go in order to me.
