staten island mall boycott

<p>a few family members have told me that the staten island mall was bought out by a french company and instead of having santa calus in the middle like they always have, they put a kwanzaa theme and put santa in the corner some where</p><p>nobody puts santa in the corner </p><p>anyway in response to this people have said that they will boycott the SI mall tommorrow </p><p>has anyone else heard about this ????</p>

I dont care who celebrates what and were they put santa, I would still go to that mall just for all the hotties. Staten Island mall has the best eye candy around

Instead of having pride of place in the center of the Staten Island Mall, the Jolly Old Elf has been relegated to the JCPenney wing -- separating him from the holiday congestion near the Christmas tree and train ride.

St. Nick also is being nudged out by two new kiosks installed in center court: Vonage, the online discount telephone company, and the Piercing Pagoda, which also has a kiosk in the Macy's wing.

It's a question of space, Mall general manager James Easley insists.

"Center court is always so crowded with ... [long lines waiting] for Santa and the train. Moving Santa and his chair will allow us to accommodate a lot more people by spreading things out," he said.

He noted that the fountain also has been moved, to allow more space for shoppers and events.

But many shoppers responded with "Bah! Humbug!" in an informal Advance poll.

"I don't think it's a good idea," said AnnMarie Minniti of Oakwood, as she pushed her son, Nicholas, 1, in his stroller, with daughter, Vanessa, 4, walking alongside. "Santa should be centrally located."

Nearby, Lauren Canova, with her 1-year old daughter, Gianna, added, "Santa should be in center court because it's tradition. He's always been there."

"These three things -- the Christmas tree, the train and Santa -- should be together," said Patricia Leahy of Greenridge, mother of 3-year-old Christopher. "There is plenty of room in center court for a tree, Santa and the trains. I can't figure out how Mall management thinks there is more room by JCPenney." </a>

This is an outrage a mall that is more concerned about selling things than centrally locating Santa!!
