I heard about this many years ago on some cooking show. It's something like you light the coals (or whatever it is) and let them burn basically out and then burry the turkey in more coals and stuff and it cooks it underground like a pressure cooker or something.

I don't know details, but I know this is somewhat popular among the rare ways to cook a turkey.

Wow, that sounds SO much easier than putting it in the oven. Maybe your "friend's" chick's family are mole people and do everything underground.

Do you think that you could bury one of those turkey fryers and then fry your turkey underground? It would probably reduce the fire hazzard, but I am not sure if I like dirt clods in my turkey. Tell us how it turns out.

I recall hearing about this for a pig roast. It's a Carribbean method. You dig a hole, get some slow burning coals and wood, wrap the pig in palm leaves, drop it in the hole and let it slow cook all day.

I guess it work work for a tukey also.

Or maybe a Garlic baby.
