The past few times I've gone food shopping my local A&P has been out of Carnation Malted Milk mix.  I have a glass or two a week and it's a nice break from my usual mass consumption of coffee, water, and diet coke.  Yesterday they still had no Carnation, so I bought Ovaltine.  Images of "A Christmas Story" and Emerson Boozer crossed my mind and I was excited to go home and whip some up.  Holy sweet shit is this stuff nasty!  The only way I can describe it is that it tastes like vitamins smell.  I can't for the life of me figure out how they've stayed in business so long.  I'm going to have to change grocery stores or give up my chocolatey treat.  I'd rather drink cat shit strained through a dirty sweat sock than drink that awful concoction the people at Ovaltine call malt.

I liked it as a kid - but we were poor and my mom was a shitty cook. I tried it as an adult and it was <a href="javascript:TINYMCE_UNIQUEURL();">Hot Tub Girl soup</a>. Then I liked it again in Yemen - but Yemen is poor and they're shitty cooks.  Then again, it's a Swiss product that's manufactured locally all over - the stuff in Yemen was made in Dubai - and a Swiss friend told me that the stuff in Swiss is great, the stuff in Yemen is OK, and the stuff in America is crap. GVAC - IMO you are sorely mistaken.  Ovaltine rocks!  Of course I started drinking it as a very young child, so it may be an acquired taste that I take for granted.  I like it a lot better than regular chocolate milk.

My parents kept a jar of Ovaltine for when our Nesquik ran out. Tasted like shit... I think one jar lasted us 5-7 years.
