Caught a screening of this Thursday night. Talk about a divided crowd. It's a love it or hate film*. But it will make you want ot talk about what you saw. The ads are a bit misleading for it. But the main thing is it's about spirtiualiy. And what extents would you do for love.

Sure it's sci fi but its more the brainy type of sci fi that's been lacking. If your expecting battles and CGI go rent Starship Troopers. This is more in the vein of Primer, Pi, and to an extent 2001. Not visually mind you, but thought provoking.

Also like Aronosfsky last film this one also has a hot chick in a red dress during a dream sequence

*one comment I heard walking back to my car that was the longest 90 minutes of my life.

I loved it Stugots, just dying to talk to someone about it. Cause the film defintely screams disscussion in a big way.
I saw a updated ad today which shows more of the elements. Sicne the first ad I caught really played up the conquistador element.

Got my tickets like an hour before the screening. So to scare someone up was a hassle so went alone. I just hate the free screenings cause you really are in a roomfull of cheap skates. Who'll see what ever they get tickets for. I'm talking women who brought their kids.

Saw about 4 walkouts including that women with her kids.

No for these two words alone: Robin Williams
This does not deal with the afterlife, more about the fountain of youth and the tree of life. I cant really say more with talking about the film. But then it would make no sense if you have not seen it.

What a letdown. It wasn't really bad; it just wasn't anywhere near as good as his last 2 films.

He really seems to ultimately be an "urban director" despite his more surreal flourishes, and this movie had none of that. He's always struck me as more of a Scorsese-flick-on-acid-type of a filmmaker, and this one was just too big and not the right movie for him.

Saw it this morning.

I can't remember a movie affecting (or is that effecting?) me as much as this one. When the whole end sequence kicked in I sat there with my mouth open (literally) in complete awe as to what was going on. By the end of it I was essentially crying, I managed to hold it all in by really biting down on my lip but it was still all in me. During the credits I couldn't even talk and my pulse and jacked up so high that my hands were shaking. Leaving the theater I didn't want to say a word to anyone and just sat in the car thinking for a bit.

During the movie I was enjoying it but wanted more Mayan/Future stuff but that ending completely blew me away in ways I never thought possible.

Most amazing ending to a movie I have ever seen. I can't even describe why it did it to me or what exactly it was all about but it was so much information is such a rush of everything great about cinema.. I need to see it again and just let it all out.

Well, just to let you know that even though this movie completely destroyed me mentally by the end and left me shaking I know for a fact that it is not for everyone, more like not for most anyone. Most people are going to be left thinking it was a waste of time and boring, but for the few who are into it will really be blown away.

I haven't heard a thing about this movie until I read this thread, and I've got to admit that my curiosity is piqued.

I'll go see it and tell you all what to think about it.

I enjoyed it last week but me and my friends argued about what the last fifteen minutes were all about. Anyone think they know what the hell was going on? (spoiler font please)

Spoilers (I hope I do this right):
I believe that the tree that he was floating in
space with. Is actually the tree he planted on her grave. Or
maybe its me over thinking the film. But defintly got the feeling
that even though it was three story lines. That it was the same
two people playing out their relationship over time.
End Spoilers.
At least that's what I got out of the ending. Like I said a film you
could have various disscusions about.
