He was great in Mrs. Doubtfire and The Birdcage, but I don't really enjoy any of his newer work. His last HBO special was alright, not amazing but not terrible. His style is just so overbearing sometimes...

Any one else feel the same way?

(This thread was inspired by his poor performance on Conan tonight)

I liked him in One Hour Photo when he played a nutjob named Sy. But that
was a few years back. Haven't seen anything worth watching since.

He has been irrelevant for quite a while now. He had some good movies many years ago, but his standup sucks and his "appearances" are infuriating.

I enjoy a lot of his movies but his comedy always annoyed me.
I don't care for him at all, I would have to agree that The Birdcage was probably the last funny thing I saw him in. I do like his voiceovers on animated movies like Aladdin and Robots, but even that is wearing thin as well. I haven't liked any of his more recent comedy specials or any of his new movies, his last few movies don't even seem slightly interesting to me. He was good in One Hour Photo and I forget the name of the movie he made with Al Pacino was pretty decent but that's about it.

FUCK him to death. I cannot stand this "stream of consciousness" asshole. Just keeping something going for 2 minutes without a breath isn't comedy. Spitting out every thought your brain has isn't comedy either.

I saw him ruin some awards show once. People were laughing in the crowd, but all hid did was stop the entire fucking show.

Go get a body shave.

If he is acting in a drama, I will give him a shot.

In any other kind of movie, in interviews, doing standup, etc. I can't stand him anymore. It's just a lot of manic BS with no payoff. Williams has stopped being funny; he is just ridiculous.

Like people are saying, if he's in a drama, I usually don't have a problem with him because he often ends up being pretty damn good.

As a comedian? Dude hasn't been funny in at least 15 years.

I forget where I read it, but I saw a great point on a movie review site that points out how surreal and awful it must be for people to constantly point out how much funnier you were when you were on coke when you're trying to stay clean.

Oh, and he's supposedly one of the most notorious joke thiefs of all time, which is pretty ghey.

did anyone see that movie where's he becomes the president ???

never a fan of his comedy though

I think the last time I thought Robin Williams was funny I was 12. And that was probably because he was weird, which is an appealing quality to a 12 year old.

None of you can honestly tel me Death to Smoochy wasn't good. err. I'm doing this, I am doing that, I am saying this, oh my gosh now I'm saying that. You never know where my comedy is headed, lol isn't that funny. Here we go I getting small, now I'm big. Watch out I'm real funny. Robin, you suck.

I think he still has an appeal to kids. If he's not on coke then he's the most energetic son of a bitch ever.

I think he would have a good career of making kids laugh... like nickelodeon's stand up for kids or something. I just don't like his shows. My roommate in college got his standup show from about 2002 where he was on stage with about 1,000 poland spring water bottles and he goes from beginning to end at 100mph, ends up soaking wet, my buddy was laughing like an ass, and I'm sitting there feeling uncomfortable.

Eventhough it's "stream of conscienceness" it's always the same. John Wayne then Richard Simmons then Mr Blackwell. And I agree with CampoNJ, he never stops, he won't talk like a normal person for more than 30 seconds.

Like Jerry Lewis, who's still doing his same act from the 50's, Robin is still doing his same act from the 80's.

And at least when Steve Martin did a stand up after being gone for (God knows how many) years hosting the Academy Awards, he killed. He was the same twisted, off beat guy you knew and loved. Robin Williams did a standup comeback a few years ago and was hideous.

Guys like him dont age well comedy wise. Guys who rely on a "physical"style of comedy as a big part of their act tend to suck as they get older. We can all look foward to Jim Carrey sucking balls in a few years, if he doesn't already.

I think I tired of him after the first season of "Mork & Mindy."
I thought Robin Williams had a few great roles. I thought he was absolutely brilliant in Awakenings and I thought he was solid in Good Will Hunting. I've never really found him funny though, just kind of hyper.
