Has anyone used uTorrent? If so any knowledge about it? I have been using bittoorrent for over a year but just downloaded utorrent. It seems to work pretty fast, but wanted to know if anyone has used it, any problems, is it safe or whatever else? Thanks in advance

it works great. Small footprint and does the job.
I've been using it for some time now, and I have no complaints. I used to use Azureus, ut it's Java based, and is a real resource hog.

I *think* utorrent allows you to d/l and u/l anonymously. This means a lot to those who have their torrent activity limited by their ISPs. The ISP is unable to choke your bandwith if you use an anonymous torrent manager.

I used to use BitComet regularly, but I noticed it is banned on several trackers. uTorrent is simple to use, it is simple to make sure your ports are forwarded and all trackers accept it.

AFAIK, anonymous torrenting is possible with peerguardian.

I've used UTorrent for almost a year now, and I love it.

It's a small footprint, as mentioned previously, and a nice feature (which I'm not sure was previously mentioned or in other software packages) is that you can pick and choose which files you want to download out of a torrent. It works really well if you only want to pull certain episodes or segments out of large torrents.

Also - another invaluable resource to have is PeerGuardian2. I cannot stress this enough. It's like a secondary firewall, which guards you from known IP ranges of certain companies which may not like you using torrents.

What do you mean "known IP Ranges"? and how does peerguardian2 work? Do you just download it and its active or do you need to do something everytime you download a torrent? Where can I get peerguardian2?

Thanks

There's a bunch of hackers who are always adding IPs to the block list. PeerGuardian automatically updates with the new IP list every day.

Google PeerGuardian2, and it'll help.

It all depends on the system you use. If you have a lot of resources (ie ram) you should use Azureus. But if you have lest than 1.5 gigs of ram, Utorrent might be better for your needs... I seem to always have hundreds of things in que and azureus cant be beat.
