Anyone else into this show when they were young? This is the first, first-run television show that I remember having to watch every week. I think it was on Saturday nights on WPIX, channel 11 in New York.

I had all of the toys: the light up u-shaped lazer gun, the walky-talky communicators, the action figures with the command center set and, of course, The Eagle shuttle craft. They were my favorite toys and I kept them in immaculate condition until my whore mother threw them out on me when cleaning out the attic. Good times. Good times. Not to mention that I think Barbara Bain may have been the first woman I batched to.

I have such fond memories of this show that I'd never want to watch it today for fear that it wouldn't stand the test of time (I made that mistake once by going back and re-watching the original Battlestar Galactica). Just the premise alone sounds so stupid now: A nuclear explosion knocks the moon out of the earth's orbit and it, and the moonbase, travel through space on various adventures.

Opening credits

I bet this would be worth some money if I still had it:

I was just a young lad, but Space 1999 was one of my favorite shows. The only thing I remember having was a 45rpm record and picture book, iirc they found a place called Nova i think? was just on http://www.space1999.net/catacombs/main/merc/vmr.html looking for it... I listened to that thing over and over again, trying to understand the plot :) I must have been 4 or 5 years old

Of course, like most science fiction, you can't dwell too much on the premise. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

You're right, it was on Channel 11 and was a syndicated first run show. I wonder why the Sci-Fi channel nver picked it up.
