Anyone ever try this? My bulldog's nails are getting long and he hates the scissor type clippers.

Maybe I was using it wrong, but I used that thing and turned my dogs claws into sharp daggers.
I just went through the toughest time I have ever had with my 2 min pinns Murphy and Kate....Murphy Started losing weight at an alarming pace....I took her in to Dr Furnick new vet my old one retired...She is young blond and very cute just for a visual ...Kinda took me by surprise....Any way she told me she had a very very high white blood cell count..gave me antibiotics and sent me on my way....Then Murphy started to swell very fast...I took her back for more x rays. But she had way to much fluid in her chest cavity to see any organs...More antibiotics scheduled an appointment to maybe draw off fluid to see better in x ray.... I laid awake for 3 nights listening to her whine from the pain of this swelling..I took her back Wednesday morn to get fluid drawn ....They called be about 11:00 and asked me if she had ever been spayed !!!!..I feel so bad but I never had being an inside pet and it was just a BIG BIG mistake on my part....I was sure she was going to be put to sleep Wednesday...Then she called me back and told me she was pretty sure she had pyometra I'm not going to check that but it is an infected uterus.....She told me that it was covering her whole body cavity and at 11 years old she might be able to save her if the diagnosis was correct..I was so torn with the money!!!!! and the fact I might be able to save her.....I told them to go a head with surgery....She is setting here on my lap...She weighed 10lb 8 oz when I took her to the hospital....They took out 4lb and 4 oz of infected uterus..She made the medical journal here locally...The Dr said she had NEVER seen anything like it..She also emailed pictures off of her phone to 30 different veterinarians .... She also showed me the pics it was amazing Very gross but amazing...I almost posted earlier in the week that I was losing my pup...But so far that is not the case....your Pal Juggy
So glad your doggie is ok!!!

She doesn't even eat that much! The other one eats 10x what she does, and he's skinny. It's hard to put one cat on a diet when you have two cats.

Nope. We put her on a diet, but the other cat just eats her diet food. It didn't work.
And she doesn't really eat that much, either. She put on all of her weight after a botched shot when she was younger when we first got her. She's not active, is the biggest problem.

so I'm watching Cats 101 and look next to me to see Cat Albert's eyes and head moving back and forth. She was actually watching the show! My other cat doesn't even notice the television, but Cat Albert loves Cats 101. I thought I was really drunk and imaging it, but she was doing it again yesterday. I think she hears the cats crying and looks up and then just starts watching the cats play. It's hilarious. I even have trouble getting her attention when she's watching it.

I have an unusual but serious question, so do not make fun, please: I have a new puppy and he is 5 and a half months old. He is not fixed yet, and he has testicles. When I was rubbing his belly I noticed the middle of his dick was swollen up, about half way up his shaft. It almost looked like he had two sets of testicles. But later on I looked and it was gone. What is that? I was really scared something was wrong. Anyone know about this stuff?
strawberrypop

That's normal. That's part of his penis. It basically swells up so that when he inserts into a female, they get locked together until he ejaculates.

I had to put Eddie and Charlie on a diet after Christmas.
They had made emptying the feeder a daily competition, to the point where they threw up from eating too fast and an entire feeder a day. Now they are back to 1/3 cup dry food up to 3 times a day each. The first week they kept hungrily sneaking around the food dish and my legs, begging for more... but now they are good on their new schedule

Charlie is doing good. I got him a soft inflatable collar instead of the rigid lampshade they were going to give him. I picked it up on the way there and had them take off the stiff one and put this one on, and take the lampshade off the bill. He seems like he is not too uncomfortable, but he also seems out of it and wanting to sleep. I hope it does not effect his trust in me or strangers.

Again, I can only comment on the experience with my boy but I don't think you have anything to worry about.
One of the amazing things about dogs is their ability to forgive. Your pup likely doesn't remember much of the surgery or experience at the vet and what he does probably wouldn't be that stressful to him. What he will remember is you picking up and doting over him. In addition to all the vaccinations, checkups, getting chipped my pup also was snipped and had to have some baby teeth pulled while under general anesthetic. Despite that he's never had a problem to go back to the vet.
Dogs are amazing!

He is 5 and a half months old and Im bringing him tomorrow to get neutered. If I can figure out how to upload my own photos, I will try and post his image.
Meanwhile, he looks a little like this guy:
http://cdn-www.dailypuppy.com/media/dogs/anonymous/19751/20090225253419_DSC_0603.jpg_w450.jpg
Heh a brown Boston. Very cool.
There's been a Boston in my house for most of my life. They are great and really hilarious dogs. If you've never had a BT, you are in for a fun time. Just watch him in the summer for overheating. A brachycephalic BT will play ball till they pass out.
We have a 15 year old rescue BT who some asshole basically abandoned. She's still chases the cats around the house and is full of piss and vinegar.

Anyone have a good remedy for interdigital cysts? My dog has one on his left paw and it keeps flaring up. He's been to the vet and we've been treating him with antibiotics and steroids but it doesn't seem to be getting rid of it.

We were away for the weekend and dropped off the dogs at my inlaws. They called us on Sat to say Wamu was limping. Sometimes he jumps and lands on his leg the wrong way and will limp for a bit and get better, so we told them to just keep an eye on it. He was still limping when we came back on Sunday. I took him to the vet on Monday and found out he has luxating patella. Basically his kneecap will always slide out without surgery. He's been running around on 3 legs. We scheduled the surgery for Friday. The specialty vet wanted $3,000-$4,000. My vet is doing it for $1,300. If we didn't have credit/help from family, the little guy would be fucked and running around on 3 legs for the rest of his life :(. I'm hoping he recovers well because he is very active, and will need to rest up for 6 weeks after surgery. He may need his other hind leg done sometime in the future as well.

The little leg isn't healing. They might have to amputate. He did say that rabbits can live just fine with 3 legs. Still sucks though

Hey guys, I'm just putting this up one last time. As some of you know I have my dog in a nationwide photo contest through bissell vacuums. Its for charity, top prize is $10,000 for a pet charity.
We are donating to the Last Chance Ranch in Quakertown, PA. They save animals before they are euthanized and find them homes while they stay at the ranch! It's a great organization.
The voting ends Thursday as 11:59pm. This is the last week to get him in the semifinals. Any support you guys can give would be awesome. We have to support of Last Chance Ranch now so the votes are starting to really pick up and he has a real chance at the semis, but he still needs more help. To vote just click the link below, that takes you to his contestant page. Then just click the votes button, and when the login screen cthis good omes up there should be a link to sign up to vote. Pretty easy from there. IF YOU VOTED IN PAST WEEKS PLEASE CAST A NEW VOTE THIS WEEK THE OTHER VOTE HAS BEEN ERASED AS OF FRIDAY. Thanks everyone for the support for this. I never want to have to go through something like this with a pet ever again. My poor dog has been in so much pain the last week. After 4 days of pain and calling the vet, I found out that after an orthopedic surgery with 20 staples, they sent him home with the equivalent of doggie advil. NO WONDER HE WAS PANTING AND CRYING ALL DAY.
He has some doggie narcotics now and has been doing better. Yesterday the vet said he didn't have to wear the cone collar any longer because his incision is healed enough that he can't do any damage to it.
Although, for some reason, it seems he does not want to poop in view of me. I have to force him to pee outside (he tries to run back in), and he's pooped in his crate twice... both times the second I walked out of view.
It has been exhausting as we literally need someone with the dog at all times. He cries in his crate if we are not in view, and he can't be left unmonitored outside of his crate because he cannot jump, run or go upstairs. He's restricted like that for a month, it's gonna suck.

I love hamsters! A few years ago I had a little black hamster with white hands named Larry. He was the calmest and sweetest little animal ever. His toe nails would get too long sometimes, and he would just let me clip his toe nails with no struggling at all. He was so trusting. I had him two and a half years and then, well . . . he died of old age. I still miss him.
Congratulations on Zeus!

I had an omodemter for Larry's wheel. I would reset it every night to see how far he was running in in a night. It worked out to between 4 to 5 miles every night when he was young.

So we have a new puppy (she's actually a year old but we just got her recently) and she doesn't seem to like dry food. She gobbles up the wet canned food like no one's business and she loves dry treats but she won't eat dry food. We've tried three different kinds so far, salmon, turkey, and beef with no luck. We don't want to just give her a wet food diet because they tend to be fattier and more caloric than dry food. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Mix up the wet food with dry food
keep adding more and more dry until you have only dry food
voila
that's what I did with the cats. My sister is still slave to a wet food eating cat that wakes her up at 5am looking for food, while my cats graze on dry food out of a feeder.
You can also buy a dry food that can be moistened. Merrick has some good ones, it makes a gravy when you add some hot water
