Potential NFL Stadium Threat.

Homeland Security advised the NFL that certain stadiums were singled out. But that information has not been released yet.

They don't seem to be taking this very serious, but wanted to throw the warning out there

The Redskins made it up just to try and explain away when people stop showing up to their awful, awful games.

I need this news now like I need a hole in the head. I'm taking my son to the Giants-Bucs game on the 29th for his birthday. My wife is still a wreck since 9/11 (refuses to fly, or go into NYC, avoids bridges, tunnels and mass transit etc.) I may need to sedate her like they used to do to Mr. T, to get him on plane, on the A-team.

You had to figure the terroist would target stadiums because they are big, we love our sports and this would effect 50-70k people at once, even more then the world trade center. Fucking shame! This is why we can fight and goto war with everyone, you will never get all those assholes and it only takes one nut to pull this off. What we need to do is let them kill themselves and mind our business and stop pushing our lifestyle on them. If they want to live the way they do then let them. By us forcing our so called freedom down their throats we are actually taking away freedom because it isnt what they chose!!!

Sweet! It's the Bears' bye week! Even the terrorists are intimidated by their awesomeness.

Seriously though, I doubt this would go down. You don't typically see terrorist attacks at sporting events even in countries where terrorism is much more common because it's difficult to get what's needed to kill a lot of people into the stadiums/arenas. Unless these guys somehow have a missile they're gonna launch into the place or a plane they're going to fly into it, I highly doubt they pull anything off of this scale.

And the fact this is being warned about on a web site in such detail makes it even less serious. How many times have any of the major attacks in the last 20 years been this clearly warned about ahead of time with freakin' internet e-mails, bulletins and postings? Yeah, exactly. And how many times have we heard about cryptic e-mail warnings that are always totally bogus? This isn't even close to being real...it's assholes trying to scare people.

I agree it is bogus, but the point remains. Do you think a terrorist in a small plane is going to worry about a no-fly zone? He will have his plane into the zone, and into the target before a single fighter is airborne. We are vulnerable.

if anyone keeps an archive of maxims, sometime in their first or second year, there was an article about potential WWIII scenarios written by i believe an ex-military guy who had done lots of research into this stuff. he did three little fictional scenarios, one of which was eerily similar to 9/11, another one that mentioned a biological weapon being planted in a sports stadium, and the third i forget. if anyone can fish this out, you win my gratititude
Unless they can put up some kind of forcefield, any pilot within seconds can be off his charted course and into a structure in seconds. That's scary stuff.

Maybe there hasn't been a terrorist attack on the States since 9-11 because there aren't any terrorists here? Maybe.
