I can't take this anymore. Tonight alone I have
killed 20 Mosquitos in my house. As we live near the woods (
Staten Island) my wife and I have always taken care, that all
screens are in good repair and no open ways for insects to get
in. But for no reason I can fathom, in the last month or so I
have ben innundated with mosquitos. I bought the mosquito trapper
with the black light and the fan and that works ok.....but the amount
is too many. My 2 year old son has 15 bits on him tonight and my
daughter looked like Rocky Dennis when she woke up. Please anyone
if you have any kind of answer be it scientific, old wives tale, folk
remedy, I'll take it. I really need help. I'm about to just
leave the house Amityville Horror style.
That's weird. I can't imagine a mosquito infestation this time of year (especially that far north). Make sure there are no areas of standing water around your home. That includes bird baths, and the like.

Clogged gutters? Often overlooked. Clogged gutters can hold standing water and be a haven for the lil bastards.
Not sure what else to offer. That stinks. Can you use repellent while you figure out how they are getting in?

Any chance they could be hatching in a little used plumbing fixture?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mosquito

well during the summer use fans with or instead of a/cs the blwing air on you makes it harder for the mosquito to land on you. next if you can go home depot or whatever and look for mosquito repellants but specifically look for the green ones that are spiral shaped, you light a match to one of thsoe itll burn most of the night and repells blood suckers beautifully. trust me no one is more prone to mosquito bites than me, my entire family and i could go on vacation no one else will get bitten i will get eaten alive.

Make sure you neighbor doesn't have standing water either.

Until you get it under control, you might want to get some mosquito netting to hang over the beds (they even make ones that attach to cribs and playpens).

You could also try a fogging machine for outdoors or purchase some bats to keep as pets. I hear they like to eat mosquitos.

definitely get your kids under a net at night. That many bites can do serious harm to a little one, even death. And.....West Nile Virus is still a issue......

There has to be standing water around you somewhere. As plethora said, check any little used plumbing fixtures. Basement of your building.(sump pump, etc.) Never heard about the gutter thing, but I could see that happening.

Guys, guys, guys... what is all this talk about bringing bats in the house? That is never going to work... the mosquitos are just too small and you can't ever swing a heavy bat fast enough to hit them..

This poor guy has a SERIOUS problem and needs only SERIOUS answers...

Hope that DDT is working out for ya... Errr, you guys might not to plan on having any more kids though... Good luck.
