He's definitely a few years away. He's only 17 or 18 and really hasn't grown into his body yet...he's about 5'11" and only 160. If he fills out at all, he should be one hell of a hitter, he already hits for average, and with a little pop he'll be in the Bronx soon enough.

Yankees' farm system packed with punch

The Yanks also added two more tough signs in Mark Melancon and sashimi-raw flamethrower Dellin Betances. It's a significant improvement for such a short period of time, and it's very bad news for the other four teams in the AL East.

Tabata is young, but many scouts already rate him as one of the best prospects in Baseball. He has plus all around skills, and unusual plate dicipline and defensive instincts for a player his age. Its like he was born to play baseball.

Still a long way to go, sometimes you hear glowing reports about a prospect, and then they go nowhere for all sorts of reasons. But kids rated this high are probably around a 75% chance of them being anywhere from good to outstanding MLB players.

Also rememeber this. Wang and Cano were NOT highly thought of as late as a year before they came up. Both were offered in the original Randy Johnson deal and the D-Backs (who have an eye for talent with one of the best farm systems in baseball) passed on both. Cano took off in winter ball, and Wang seemed to find himself at the big league level.
