Anyone into MMA?

Here's my celebrity sighting.

Brazilian Jujitsu master Dave Terrell has his school here so my wife and I went to check it out the other day. He asked us if we needed a class schedule as he walked in. I could tell by his look that he didn't really see me as a "badass".

I enjoy both UFC and Pride. However, I have stayed away from UFC PPV because the cards didn't seem to be worth the money. Based on what I've read about recent PPV events it was a good move.

Yeah, there have been quite a few fights called by the ref (particularly Herb Dean) way too early. One that comes to mind was the recent Arlovsky vs. Silvia 2, the Heavyweight bout. These are some seriously big boys, well-trained and used to taking a beating. It was called in like 40 seconds, with Arlovsky rocked, but definitely not out. Then they rematched a few months later, and it was the two of them dancing around each other for 5 five-minute rounds.

The last UFC PPV was pretty good, and when you have like 10 friends chip in four bucks, it's not a bad deal.

Also, on the 10th of October, Shamrock will fight Ortiz for the third time. This will be Shamrock's last fight in any MMA and will be shown live and FREE on Spike TV. It probably won't be that good of a fight, but I'll watch for sure.

I was octagon-side for the Ortiz/Shamrock fight and did a report for Fight News. Great card. Main event was anti-climatic, but everyone should have seen that coming. The brutal Rory Singer/Josh Haynes fight was amazing.

Too bad we didnt get to see that on Spike. We were wondering where all the blood on the mat came from though when the show started.

They started the show with the deaf kid that doesnt know how to finish a fight. He has a ton of potential but has a lot of work to do.

Ed Herman losing suprised me. You would think he would be able to back up all that talking he does.

Kendell looked good in his fight. He throws some nasty elbows.

I cant wait for the Ortiz-Lindell fight. I would like to see what would happen if Tito can get him to the ground. I think thats the only way he has a chance to win.

Kendall Grove is definitely a rising MMA star. Michael Bisping and Kendall Grove were the only two fighters on last seasons Ultimate Fighter that my wife and I liked. The rest of 'em seemed like whining little stinges.
