She is an adams apple away from being a man, shes not even remotely attractive and she has no titties from what has been shown on the show lately and barely qualifies as a woman.
Careful lad, youre this close to actually agreeing with Mojo on something.
damn, wrong thread.
Excellent episode.
I love how Dexter now has to deal with killings away from his code.
I can't believe he is gonna let prado get his hands dirty.

I thought so.
I think the whole Prado thing is in interesting idea. Notice that while Dexter picked this victim, the guy was threatening Prado's family- which he didn't mention to Dexter.
I also think the Skinner is going to be Deb Morgan's partner.
I think it's going to be the second tree trimmer who spoke llittle english, but had a wry smile

I finally figured out who that chick Batista's been hitting on is.
She was in The Chris Isaak Show on SHO ( incidentally also the girl in the Janie's Got A Gun video ).
She got kinda ..... ugly I think.

I hope the cop that Debra's supposed to talk to IAD about doesn't turn out to be bad because I'm liking the character.
I find Debra's character to be more annoying when she's being emotional. It sounds so contrived.

WTF is Laguerta hanging out with the lawyer? I don't understand... does she swing both ways? Not that it matters much more after how the show ended this week..
Also, I want to nominate Julie Benz for worst actor/actress on any Showtime/HBO show. Yes Deb gets a lot of flak - and Adrian Grenier gets flack on Entourage... but WOW... Rita may be the worst acted character on any HBO/Showtime show ever.

Yeah I liked them setting it up to make dexter appear to be pissed then reverting back to his calm, collected persona this cant end up good for smits.
So dexter investigates miguel and finds out he sold a lot of people out just cause he thought it was right so he has to kill him and miguel threatens to expose him. God I hope it ends up better than that.

yea, some of the characters are awful
rita... loved her when she was damaged but her new liberated self-sufficiant woman thing makes me want to choke her
deb... i'm probably in the minority but i like deb. i can relate to the way she says the first thing that comes to her mind without considering the consequences
batista... could be the worst actor ever. no, is the worst actor ever.
quinn... the jury is still out on him. i can't figure out why they just transplanted this guy into the cast and try to make you not trust him so much.
laguerta... i so thought she was going to do the worst thing you could ever do and become gay with her lawyer friend.
harry... i'm waiting for dexter to kill him in one of his fantasies
masuka... he's funny sometimes, but a little much at other times.
miguel... i liked him before dexter let him in on the secret, i knew when he found out it was going to fuck everything up.
well, thats my take on the cast that none of you really asked for.

Great points on all of them. I agree with all you said except Deb just pisses me off and it seems like she has tarretts with her unnessisary cursing. 2nd worse- Harry...we get it, you pop up to give Dexter the same advise you always give in the most serious way possible. With Miguel its getting a little silly and unrealistic that he wants to start killing people. I'm with you about the rest too.

I am a little shocked at how QUICK things escalated these past two episodes. I almost can't imagine How Dex gets away from the skinner - and Miguel gets killed in an hour. My best guess, Dex kills the skinner - and somehow they are closing in on Miguel and he takes his own life. I am also shocked nothing really happened with Quinn this year. I also expected Rita to pop and the marriage to happen before the season ended.
I guess we will find out in two weeks.

I'll put my guess at the next 2 eps in spoilers, even though it's merely a guess, and Ive done an awful job this year figuring things out:
Miguel has second thoughts on leaving Dex to the skinner, mostly because he wants to continue having an upper hand on Dex, so he 'rescues' him, only to be killed by the skinner. Skinner gets away briefly, but of course is tracked down by Dex and all ends well. Miguel is remembered as a hero by the city, blah blah blah.
Im confused now though, was miguel killing on his own the entire time and thats why all those people were scared of the guy?
You know that he will get out of it somehow so Im not sure why they decided to end the season this way.

not a bad scenario, but then again, I thought Deb's partner was the skinner.
Not really a spoiler but didn't they discuss after the show what dexter will be up to next season? yes, we know the series is over without him, but still, it seemed wrong to say it.

Good episode last night. All I can say is, it took Dex LONG enough to finally take care of Miguel. You just know he's going to have to take his brother out next, especially after he wrecks his place up.
I gotta wonder if Deb going to find anything on Dex's mom when she gets the results from the CI list their dad worked with or will she find something on her own with some snooping. With all the files as far as we know gone I doubt it, but it would be very interesting if she found out the truth and made the connection between Dexter and Rudy.

He'll need someone. I started thinking earlier in the season that Laguerta would start looking into him, and she might still after Miguel goes missing. As far as she's concerned Dexter was the only one who knew about him in her investigation. If anything she may become a little more suspicious of Dex.

I thought it was a great episode, I love the parallels between every characters own secrets and their own reasons and importance behind it. I agree that I wasn't scared of the skinner the way I was the Ice Truck Killer but I also don't think we were supposed to be scared of him. The ITK specifically targeted Dexter and taunted him knowing his secret and was just as bad if not worse than him. The skinner was a serial killer also but of a whole different mindset and he had no significant connection to Dexter until Miguel made them connected. By that point and as soon as we saw his methods of tying his victims up we could tell that the skinner was no match for Dexter at all. In fact it's what made Dexter see he was so much more than that and had grown, if anything it became a coming of age moment where he realized he wanted more and had the feelings and emotions he never had before and more than ever wanted to live and a reason for living. It may not have been the gritty season thriller some expected but I think it sets the stage for a continually evolving Dexter who will grow more complex and conflicted as the seasons progress.

I still don't understand everyone's hatred for Deb's character. She's so completely opposite from Dexter, but their differences make them the perfect brother and sister for this show.
This season didn't have as much intensity as the first two, but I don't think that's such a bad thing. They raised the bar so high to begin with, the only way it could have gone further would be to have made the show completely ridiculous.

I agree that Rudy was much more menacing than the Skinner, but I would have liked to have seen more between Dexter and the Skinner. Say a 3 episode arc when the Skinner takes his shot at either Dex or Rita and the kids, but misses. Then in a rage for messing with his family, Dexter goes after the Skinner, but fails to get him. Then conclude it with what happened last night.
Overall, it was a good season though. Not as good as the 1st, or even the 2nd IMO, but it was good in it's own right.

John Lithgow kills for 'Dexter' role (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090528/en_nm/us_lithgow_1)
Lithgow will appear in all 12 episodes of the season, playing Walter Simmons, Miami's latest serial killer and Dexter Morgan's (Michael C. Hall) new nemesis.
Simmons is described as an unassuming, mild-mannered suburbanite who has been living a dual life as one of America's most prolific serial killers, dubbed the "Trinity Killer" because of his proclivity to kill in threes.
After being tracked by FBI special agent Frank Lundy (Keith Carradine), Simmons relocates to Miami, where Dexter is brought on to assist in the investigation and becomes fascinated with the killer's skills.

spoiler alert!
Just saw the first episode of the 4th season. Naked John Lithgow cradling a young chick in the bathtub as she is bleeding out is one of the creepiest things I've ever seen on TV. Also ... I hope this is the last time we see a naked John Lithgow.
Overall, an odd episode. I like Lithgow as this new antagonist for Dexter, but something about the episode was odd. It doesn't feel like the early seasons. Dexter feels domesticated, I look at him and I see a dad who kills people every once in a while, which is a far cry from the scheming, heartless, coldhearted serial killer he was in the first and second seasons. It used to be that he couldn't live without blood on his hands. Now it feels like his hobby. Something he does on occasion to unwind, not his whole life, as it should be for that character, in my opinion.

what the fuck no love for the premier last night. I thought I was going to hate the new baby in the story line, but it has added an even better twist to this season now with the car accident at the end.
I was pissed at showtime for showing WAY to much in the previews for the rest of the season.
What did everyone else think? Anyone still watching this? any predictions on what happens with his sister and the FBI guy or the Lt. and head detective?

I wasn't as excited for this season as past season, and I didn't particularly care for the premier. I hate all the auxiliary people on the show now, and I hate the baby storyline. I also hate the sergeant and lieutenant storyline.
The previews actually made me want to keep watching, though. John Lithgow's character seems interesting, but this show seems to be treading into the CSI / soap opera territory.

I got on the bandwagon late (watched season 1 on DVD in the middle of season 2)... this premiere really underwhelmed me until the very end (which Sarah and I both saw coming as soon as he got in the car)... including the really unnecessary John Lithgow ass... I could have gone the rest of my life without that.

loved the premeire but im getting just a tad tired of Dex always narrowly escaping being caught. you cant flip your car NASCASR style, be taken to a hospital and NOT have the police search every inch of that car. im curious to see how they explain him only finding one bag of body parts in his car after the accident.
other then that the car accident scene itself was very cool to see and i think Lithgow is going to knock his role out of the park this season so im excited for that.

Well, showtime/HBO don't do media blitzes, since they don't much care for 1st run viewings. They much prefer subscriptions, DVD sales and total views throughout the week.

the preview for the rest of the season was WAY better then the initial episode. I have 2 kids under 3....one of whom never slept at night and I was nowhere near as tired as Dexter was all episode. My alarm goes off everyday at 4:30 to drive 90 minutes to work. We are supposed to believe he is so tired that he brought the wrong file to court with him and blew the entire case. It was just to much and hope that part of the show goes away.

I agree here in that I need to see how Dexter is not caught after the flip, and I think Lithgow will be amazing in that role.

You have to remember that Dexter is not the typical dad- he was already going out at night to do his planning/stalking (and of course killing), so the lack of sleep was the final straw. Yes there are still holes (like how does he get to keep an apartment now that he is married)

Loved the premier. FYI... If you're like me, and can no longer afford HBO/Showtime/Etc, go to WatchDexterOnline (http://watchdexteronline.net/). But be advised, if you pause it to do something else, it only lets you watch their content for 72 minutes per day. I made that mistake and had to watch the second half the day after I started. Also, you should watch it with Firefox with Adblock. I just set it up to for my dad on his Explorer comp, and the pop up ads were terrible.

Have you ever heard of someone being sued for downloading a tv show?
Music? yes.
Movies? yes.
Tv? no.
I pay for HBO, yet I still download the shows, because it's more convenient. No commercials, high def picture, watch it whenever I want, not when the on demand gods deem to put it there. The networks don't lose out, if I download House. I'm not in a Nielsen household, so their ratings don't suffer, so they get paid the same for the ads, whether I watch it live or downloaded.
Really, it's a victimless crime(and I doubt it's even a crime). There is no artist I'm shortchanging, no studio whose 10$ admission ticket I don't pay.
Honestly, the only thing I watch live now is sports.

I'm still not messing with it. And besides... You can barely even talk about torrents on rf.net, without the post getting deleted. I provided a link for anyone who wants to watch the show, and doesn't want to mess with torrents.
Edit: BTW... If you have any file sharing software on your computer that allows you to illegally download music, you can be sued for every song you have on your hard drive. Even if you didn't download the songs illegally.

I would have thought that the show could have come up with a different plot this year. Him hunting a serial killer is getting old hat. We get it - you will get close to being found out - you will pin it on Litgow at the end, and then kill him so there is no testimony.
The show would have been much more interesting this season if the baby and how tired he was, caused him to kill an innocent man - and his internal battle on turning himself in - not saying anything because he now has a family to live for - of even if he should or needs to continue with what he is doing.

I am enjoying this season so far. I am still on the edge of my seat and still cringing at certain parts of the show, but for all different reasons and that is one of the things that I really like about it. I still don't like the whole wife and kids angle very much but I'm interested in seeing where they take it.
Early prediction..Lundy gets killed this season. Either he finds out about Dexter or Jon Lithgow gets to him and kills him...one or the other.

Yeah, but I already pay for HBO. HBO shouldn't care when I watch something, they don't get advertising money. They are sustained entirely by subscriptions. They have On Demand, but I hate the lag of using On Demand. I download the show and watch it when and how I want, not reliant on the HBO schedule, I feel that it's entirely within my rights. The only thing they might be pissed about it me not buying the DVDs instead, but they can't make that argument either - I have netflix, so I never buy DVDs.
Speaking of netflix, a good way of making 2 dvds out at a time work is to buy a new hard drive 500 gigs+ and just create images of the dvd as soon as you receive it, send it out the next day and watch the movie when you want. I've built myself a nice library of movies on my PC. The blu-ray films are a bitch with 35-40 gigs per movie, so I delete those as soon as I watch them, but if you only do DVDs, you can have over 50 movies on your PC at the same time.

But its not. My point is, you could get sued. HBO and Showtime can't run the risk of thier shows being downloaded for free. People would stop paying for HBO or ST. They don't even have online feeds like all other places. To have HBO of ST OD, you have to have those two channels.

Either in a bad way, as inthey are working together, or a more personal adversary connection, like maybe Trinity killed a family member of Lundys.

I just caught up and that's a great point! I forgot that even happened. Hmmmm...probably because he admires Trinity so much that he actually LOVES his family and he wants to have that. He wasn't trying to make the situation worse but actually save his family when he realized he didn't want to be without them.

I like how they've kinda' defused the situation with Rita and Dex and the last episode but Dexter could easily have explained keeping his apartment by saying he found out about her first marriage and was afraid there was more she was hiding or something.

There are deer in Miami, there's also a lot of areas surrounding Miami that have wild life. The forest area Arthur and Dexter (Kyle) went is not uncommon to Miami.
Great great episode last night. Is that coffin Trinity is building for Dexter or for himself?

I think I figured it out regarding the coffin that Trinity is building. I think it's for Deb. Thanks to the press he is aware that she survived. Rather than just killing her and leaving her body somewhere for someone to find I think he just wants to get rid of her. I think he realizes that if she is killed there will be a massive manhunt to track down the killer of a fallen detective and rather than have that he'd rather just take her somewhere, kill her and bury her somewhere. Time will tell, but I think that box is for her.

but that breaks Trinitys code/cycle. although it appears they might be heading that way anyway because Dexter killed an innocent man.

That occurred to me today as well. Maybe it's because this time it wasn't an accident and may have come as a result of cutting corners on Harry's code to avoid killing Trinity. An accident he can justify, but intentionally killing an innocent man is another thing entirely.

I thought the boob quota was all spent when Jaime Murray's Lila was killed off by Dexter.
I think it's just Showtime. They are far more liberal with nudity than HBO. Here it's almost a given that at one point, there are going to be some good boobs in the show. Californication, Weeds, Dexter. In fact, I think that nurse Jackie failed because there were no boobs on that show I can recall. Edie Falco should have just said fuck you to her artistic integrity and taken one for the team.

Was she ever an empathetic character?
Even at the start, when she was a victim of domestic abuse etc. etc. She just would not put out, you have to lose brownie points for that in my book. Not to mention the whole annoying getting hitched thing. And now making a fuss about Dexter keeping his apartment. What's the big deal? That was a guy he was framing to be the Trinity Killer. In a effort to buy some time before they catch the real Trinity Dexter set that guy up to be the killer. He was one of Lundys original suspects and he killed some hooker and got away with it. So Dexter could kill him and not wory about things. Then Dexter planted the real Trinity's toothbrush, comb and hammer at the guys house.

I really hated her too & always thought she was annoying. but unlike any other annoying character, this was the first time i didn't say "oh thank god she/he's gone." he needed to have a kid & get married and have a family to take the show in a new direction. it could have started to get really stale with the same ol' "dexter kills someone, dexter gets away with it" angle. they needed him to get all thrown into a loop this season to keep things fresh & keep us guessing & wondering if he'll keep getting away with it.
this has been the best season by far.

And I dont think this was the best season, it seemed to take forever to get going and then it was over 3 episodes later, I still think season 1 and 2 were the best, 3 was ehhhh, and I wanted to like this season more but I think they wasted John Lithgow until close to the end.

After seeing it, my first reaction was shock. Really unexpected and surreal almost. Brilliant work by the creative team of the show. My second reaction, even while watching Dexter absorb it all, with her lifeless body still in the tub, I was singing "The bitch is dead, the bitch is dead."
Truly, I am extremely happy that she is gone. I could not stand one more minute of her character on that show. Nothing against Julie Benz, she's got a smoking body, but that whole marriage/girlfriend angle was always the most boring part of the show.
Can't wait for next season. I wonder if Dexter might get pinned for this somehow.

I thought the final scene w/ Lithgow was kimda anti-climatic.
I also don't think the timeline for the events of the fianl scene play out do they ?
Rita left w/ the kid in the morning day and Lithgow was already on the run and went to get the car while it was daytime as well.
How'd he have time to go back to kill Rita ?
I guess he could've done it before he went back to his own house and asked the family for all their belongings but when did Rita actually make her way back to their house ?

Ok, the message said something happened to Ritas flight and she had to come home and was going to catch a later puddle jumper. So basically she was home when Dexter was at Lithgows house with the SWAT team, thats when Lithgow went there, before picking up his car.
Obviously he didnt go pick up the car right away because Dexter got there first.

No where to hide in the car interior, and I don't think that if he was in the trunk, he could get out through the backseat of a convertible mustang.
Had to be in the trunk, and would have had to have opened the trunk lid for this to make sense... but, yeah, it still brings up a lot of questions as to how he got it, and out.

Im guessing thats why the FBI took over the case. Thatll be it for Trinity. They dont usually show victims family members on tv so I dont think the family will see him, but they can go that route with the story if they want to. Im guessing the 2 older kids will go live with the grandparents and just show up in a few episodes, while Dexter and Deb try raising the baby.

I was speculating on that as well. I wouldn't be surprised if Astor & Cody end up with their grandparents. It seemed like they went out of their way to set up that Paul's parents are good people, and they may have done that so when Astor & Cody end up there it won't come out of nowhere. I think there's a chance that Dexter keeps the baby because he's biologically his. That way he can wrestle with trying to help his son not become him, considering that he has the same genetics and experienced a similar trauma to that which gave Dexter his "dark passenger".
