We had to write a description. Wanting to do well, I was wodnering if any of you would be so kind to share their opinion of my piece.
Nowhere and Everywhere

Autumn is such a busy time. School starting, new TV shows airing, baseball ending, football getting interesting, hockey pre-season, squirrels gathering nuts for the winter to come, and leaves giving a final hoorah of beauty before they fall to the ground. Oh what a beautiful time of year. The time of year that make a person look around and breathe in the crisp air. It’s the time of the year that calls for an appreciation of nature and of the brilliance of this world. For me this means it’s time for me to walk around my neighborhood.

Starting out a walk to nowhere tends to be the hardest part. I figure that easiest way to begin is to step outside and let the wind guide oneself. So that’s just what I did. I stepped outside of my home and looked around and noticed an orange leaf dancing in the hollow wind. It was heading down my block, so I jumped down from my steps, put my hands in my pockets of my jacket, and set off.

As I followed the leaf I looked up to the sky. The trees on my block, full of bursting colors of green, yellow, and red suffocated the grey sullen sky. As my gaze drifted from the melancholy grey of the sky, I heard a crunch underneath my foot. I lifted my foot and saw the leaf that had started me on my walk to nowhere. I picked up the leaf and felt its rough exterior between my thumb and fore finger. I rubbed it together till it crumbled into leaf confetti.

As the wind carried the ashes of the fallen leaf across my neighbors full, green yard I smelt the far off smell of a fire. My senses tingled as I pictured a family sitting by the fire place remembering times spent together. I looked up towards the sky; which had now turned a soft violet since the sun was now setting. I watched as another leaf danced its way to the ground from its home in the heavens. I looked back, and followed the smell of the fire to wherever it would take me.

You might also check with ESD, he's quite good at this type of thing. He was editor of the Arister in high school. Gave up a promising baseball career to pursue his art.
