I used to like Rachel Ray's show. Sure she was perky and annoying, but I
think her show was also really accessible to people who maybe didn't know a
whole lot about cooking and may have been intimidated by some of the stuff
on other food network shows.

$40 a day? Irritating as hell (who CANT eat for $40 a day), but I liked seeing
the different towns (I like Alton Brown's road show a lot better... but then, I
just adore Alton)

Tasty travels? Basically the same as $40 a day, right?

And she's got some show where she goes and hangs out with celebrities
while they cook for her. Pretty awful.

But her new talk show? Completely and utterly unwatchable. I tried... I
really did... almost seems like the whole perky thing is really forced these
days... her voice is all scratchy from yelling Yum-O! so often... the whole air
is so uncomfortable, with her sitting at an uncomfortable looking table alone
up on stage and yelling at her audience. Stupid jokes. Retarded segments. It
can't possibly last more than a week or two.

Sadly, she posted huge ratings for the first week, so she's gonna be around for at least the season.I agree with you on Alton... Rachel has this "forced" air about her, like a pretentious Kelly Ripa.  Alton's more of the James Lipton of the Food Network.

I've never been a huge fan. I always found her a little annoying. That being said, and although she has beefed up a little bit recently, I had the pleasure of sitting just a couple of seats away from her at a Yankee game, when was it, two years ago? Let me tell you, her ass is a thing of absolute beauty. Too bad she has smaller tits than me.

Rachel Ray sucks.The most annoying thing she does is say: "EVOO" and then right afterwards everytime she says "extra virgin olive oil"  WHY the hell use the acryonom and then say what it means?? There is no point just do one or the other not both.  There was about a 2month period where she just did EVOO then went back to doing both again.I hate her.

No one may get this, i barely do myself but whenever i see Rachel Ray I think of the chick from this one episode of "Friends".Joey went to break up with her wearing 10 sweaters because she "play punched too hard".So basically, from thinking of that, she annoys me.

As much as I can't stand her perkiness and use of the term "EVOO," it's her wacky arm movements that annoy me the most.  She's way too animated.And I agree with both TooCute and Tenbats about Alton Brown.  I watch Good Eats all the time, and I actually own some of the DVDs.

Rachel Ray has the blessing of, and is produced by, Oprah.  Her zombie army will keep this on the air for a long time.  If Oprah can make a success of that un-watchable Dr. Phil, Rachel should be fine.Although I haven't seen the show, she's probably just nervous and will settle in.  I saw her briefly on Larry King while flipping through the channels. The dress really is hideous, but is was the only recent pic of her that I could find where she wasn't behind a counter or sitting down (i did find one from some marathon she ran over the summer which did her even less justice). I find her very attractive nonetheless. And like you said, the fact that she can cook 365 different meals in 365 days makes her even more desirable. As far as the exposure; she's uber-hot right now because of the network gig. Her star will probably fade by the end of 2007. Remember, we Americans are a fickle lot when it comes to celebrities. We build 'em up, then we knock 'em right back down.

I loved her about 40 pounds ago on the travel-themed $40 a day show. But she's hideous on all those cooking shows and always has been. She seems so phony, forced and scripted.

And I'm torn, because I really like her on interrview shows like this one (http://www.wnyc.org/shows/lopate/episodes/2007/09/10). When she's not acting like a caricature of a middle american housewife she's very unpretentious, very family oriented, and very likeable. But you just never see that anymore.

I'll go for cute although I don't find her sexy for some reason.

She needs to start resting her voice when she's not on the air before she permanently damages it. She's sounding more like Joan Rivers whenever I occasionally see her on TV.
