   Junior came in 11th at the last race at California.  He's starting 6th, and the highest starting chaser in tonight's lineup. As there's 48 points separating 4th to 10th, EVERYONE has to have a good showing tonight.  Dale absolutely needs to work the field in the start of the race to get the five bonus points for leading.  He's got a fast car, and he's got Truex right behind him, so hopefully he'll get a bit of drafting help to push him early in the race.

The only racer to be really scared of once the chase starts is Kenseth.  Like Stewart did last year, he's getting hot at just the right time.  Both JJ and Harvick has been coasting, just like Edwards and Biffle did last year.

With 30 laps left, Jr. is just pulling insane speeds.  He's driving nearly a mile and a half faster than most of the drivers in the top 10.

Kenseth is your new point leader, with a 9 point lead over JJ. Kahne has made up 60 points to 10th place, so he's only 30 out at Richmond.   72 points from fourth to 10th.   If there's any DNF from 4th to 10th, Kahne has a BIG shot.

I really don't want to see Burton or Martin getting shut out.

In answer to questions... 1) Yes, the plan is for Kluever to drive #6 now, still with the AAA sponsorship.2) Martin's original plan was to retire after last year.  Roush convinced him to come back because Kluever wasn't ready (and honestly, I STILL don't think he's ready) for one more year.3) There's been a round of denials all around concerning the 88.  So who knows what's going to happen, but if Mark runs full-time truck and full-time Nextel, he's going to have a long-ass travel schedule.

Couple of things to note:The Busch race had a shitload of cautions tonight.  That usually translates to a quiet Cup race, but we'll see. Both Tony and Dale are gonna be driving the shit out of their cars to get them to the front of the field.  Kasey Kahne's starting position as opposed to Smoke's immediately puts Kasey at an advatage to get into the Chase, and Smoke to fall out of contention.  It doesn't help that Smoke crashed his primary car in practice. Junior won at Richmond in the spring, but he had a much better starting position.  They are shooting for 16th or better.

season he didn't qualify for, but it was the first cup race without a

    He didn't qualify for the 600 at Lowe's.  He bought Derrick Cope's ride to get in. Then he didn't qualify for I THINK Indy... didn't buy his way in that time.  He and Napa released a statement that this is a "rebuilding and transition" year.  Translation: Dodges in NASCAR without a lot of money behind them are crap, let's get into the Toyota program and hope for the best in 07.

Listening to Dale's in-car audio, it sounded like he was having a legitimate panic attack when his brakes went.  He was freaking out because he thought he wasn't going to make the chase.  Both Tony Jr. and Dale's spotter had to talk him down repeatedly because Dale had no idea where he was in the point standings. Really put a human side to the "too cool for the room" Dale Earnhardt Jr. Makes me a bigger fan of him.

I'm not a big fan of Jimmy Johnson, but I don't have a distaste for him like the Douchebags and Gordon.  That being said, I kind of felt bad when I saw him hit the wall like that... I said it before, he's been coasting at the wrong time in the season, and this is not the time of year to have a DNF. With Douchebag the younger's car operating horrifically since the lap 2 crash, and now this, two chasers have taken their "mulligan" for the rest of the playoffs.

yeah he was laying low for the past month  or so not really trying anything crazy and i am not sure was i was expecting for these last 10 races but when i he qualified this past weekend i had a good feeling since he really hadnt had a top 10 qualifying all that often lately so i thought it was a good sign and he was hiding all the goodness underneath his sleeve.im still pulling for im since hes my boy but it's gonna be hard.

Two chasers who really need to scramble for points are running in the top five starting positions, and Kasey runs really well at relatively flat 1.5 mile speedways... which is exactly what Kansas is. The majority of the chasers run 8-14th, with Martin and Hamlin bringing up the rear. This should be an interesting race.

   Agreed.  Vickers had NOTHING to race for. (Yeah, mention Ricky Hendrick AGAIN in your post race interview, ya FUCK.  NO FUCKING SYMPATHY.  NONE.)   By doing what he did, he's pretty much turned the entire Hendrick organization against him (like he cared about that), but it's a fucking PR disaster.  If Junior wins that race, he's only 26 points out of the championship.  Even if Junior DIDN'T win and pulled a top 3-4 finish, he's still within MASSIVE striking distance of the lead. Granted, Junior made up about 70 points in this race... but he could have gotten much, much closer.  The fans have long memories.  They will remember this.

Nobody has made mention of the fact that when JJ came off Jrs. bumper he lost that draft, thus speed.Vickers was just trying to hold on to JJ or push him forward, just at the wrong place.I was stunned how long they waited to make the move to start with.I've seen JJ do more than a few stupid things racing, like when he knocked Mark Martin out of contention in the first RTTC last year.

It was apparently in retaliation for an incident late in the
race.


Harvick was close behind Riggs when the latter crashed while
running third on lap 332 of the 339-race event. It appeared
Harvick's car took the air off the rear deck of Riggs' car and
Riggs was unable to maintain control.


Jan McCormick Jr., a public relations representative for
Harvick, said Kevin and DeLana Harvick were walking to the infield
media center for a postrace interview when two Riggs crewmen made
several comments to them.


"They were just talking a little smack, which is normal, and
then one of them came up and gave Kevin a push in the back,"
McCormick said. "Kevin fell into DeLana and she fell into a NASCAR
official and all three of them fell to the ground."


He said the men ran away but <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/driver?seriesId=2&driverId=136">Mike Dillon</a>, competitive director
for Richard Childress Racing, which fields Harvick's car, went
after them and took the man who pushed Harvick to the NASCAR
hauler.
 
 
If I'm Harvick, I'm waiting for this guy outside the hauler with a
tire iron....NO WAY does a guy get away with doing that to another guys

It's amazing... Apparently the Menards chain is like, HUGE, and the Menard family is rich as hell... but I've NEVER HEARD OF THE FUCKING PLACE before.  I mean, I've heard of Sonic, Goody's Headache Powder, Checkers, etc, even though they aren't readily available around here.  Menard's?  Nothing.
