I guess if they really want to compete with myspace they make it more like myspace and allow everyone to join. </p><p>Myspace has become a markeing, internet, media power. Anyone can get on Facebook now. A friend of mine sent me an email to check out her page, and the only way to view it was to sign up. I signed up just to see her page. I didn't see any reason to use it beyond that, though. It doesn't look much different than Myspace to me.

I only signed up for Facebook (almost two years ago) because a friend who lives in Kuwait sent invites to all of the people we were close with in college to play their free version of online poker. I never seemed to find anyone online when I signed in for the first month, so I stopped logging in. Didn't go to the site for nearly 18 months.

I like these sites but in moderation. They're obviously a lot more interesting if you lead an interesting, busy life.

I like the Facebook for occasional updates from friends and family, but I haven't wanted to check out Twitter just yet. I don't like the little updates, seems to limited. It's good for someone like Opie, he seems to do a lot and lives in the city where a lot goes on. For folks with slower lives in areas with less to do, it's not as interesting. And if you're not updating the Twitter a lot there seems to be little use for it, I'd just rather Facebook.

Or better yet, go do something.

i still dont use either. my wife has facebook and seems to enjoy the time she spends checking on friends and family from hs and college) i could give two shits and would be lucky to recognize 1 out of 10 people from my past in a line up

they haven't. If you click hide on the post on your home page it will automatically hide the application and not the person. if you want to hide a person you have to click on one of their status updates or links.

I said that no one person has the majority of their updates being those type of updates.

But with enough friends (and I know I don't have as many as some people) doing it occassionally, I see one of these once a week from one of them. As an illustration, if I were to have 30 friends who update their pages every day of the month, and all of them only do this type of update only once a month, I would still see this type of update enough times (average of one a day) to annoy me.

Also, the majority of e-mails I receive from people aren't the forwarded type of e-mails, but I still dislike the ones I get.

No clue the whole platform sucks security and privacy wise. I have all those stupid apps blocked and occasionally a friend of mine will post something on my wall with a facebook app. Facebook was great before they opened it up to 3rd party developers that take your personal info and use it anyway they want.
