I have never seen it, and I have no desire to ever see it. Is there something wrong with me? I just don't get it at all

Add me to the list.

I know I shouldn't judge something I've never seen, but from what I've heard it sounds boring as sin to me.

I don't watch it either. I watched the first half of season 1 on DVD and completely lost interest.

I saw the first episode and it just couldn't hold my interest. I'd rather watch The Shield.
I just cant get into it. I hear its the best thing on tv. something about a show that takes place in real time seems interesting but watching the one episode it seems like way too much goes on in 1 hour and cant be believable. But its tv so whatever.

It's one of the few shows where every single person I know loves it.

It's one thing to see it and not like it. If you've never checked it out though you're really missing out.

Rent season one just to see what all the fuss is all about. I did that and watched it all over one weekend. Couldn't stop watching.

I watched the first two episodes, got up during a commercial break in the third to get a drink and never came back. Kiefer was faithfully as awful as I expected him to be and the whole thing was just ridiculous. I hate gimmicks and I hate shows that confuse frentic and overcooked "tension" for genuine drama. I understand why people would like it but personally, it bored me to tears, and I honestly think Kiefer Sutherland is one of THE worst actors to keep getting major screen work in the last 20 years.

And I'm the opposite of Bama...I don't know a single person that likes it or still watches it. The viewers of this thing are like Nixon voters, man.

I became a big fan as of last year;

Previously, whenever i caught 4 minutes here, an ad there, it seemed too much like any of the current many slick action-oriented shows.....and in some ways, it is....and yeah, some plot points are unrealistic.

However, i think the difference is that it is widely seen as being a gem in it's genre (Even people who don't like SF can watch the original StarWars, or read Chandler even if mystery books bore them)and has a huge audience because it even draws people like me who don't otherwise care for those type of TV shows.

I know that some posted that watching multi-eps weren't enuf to get them interested, but the DVD marathon route is still my suggestion...most preferably starting with season I.

The Problem with 24 is that unlike an episode of Seinfeld, Friends, King of Queens, Cosby Show, etc....you cant just watch one episode here and there of 24. Every episode has to do with the one before it. Not one episode can stand alone as the hit. No one I know can name thier favorite episode of 24. They cannot be viewed independently. I love 24. I allow myself to suspend disbelief that Jack can drive from a deserted area to the inner city of LA in one commercial break. But the overall story line is worth my while.

I implore some of you naysayers to start watching from day one.

That's another thing, if you didnt watch from the beginning (series 1) it would be hard to know all the background stories.

Jack Bauer fan since day one!

I'm a little surprised. Like I said I dont like the show. But everyone I know does. But I'm surprised that the board seems to be 50/50 split on liking it or not even caring about it. Very interesting!

mikeyboy wrote:
I don't watch it either. I watched the first half of season 1 on DVD and completely lost interest.
I had the same problem. I watched the 1st season when it premiered and lost interest halfway through. It just fell apart. I've never gotten back into the show since.

From what I've heard though, and take this with a grain of salt, they only made 6 episodes or so at first because they weren't sure it would get picked up. Once it did, they had to put together the rest of the show, which seemed to revolve around kidnapping his daughter. Everyone says the following seasons have been much better than the first, but I could never get back into the show.

Me neither.....It was on the tv once and all I could think of was Robocop when Peter Weller came on screen.......

Martha Stewart doesn't watch it either, she's too busy with ADF.

It's fun escapism. Suspend your beliefs!

Or, to be more poignantly, it kicks ass. Every season has gotten better and better.

If you missed last season, you missed one of the best "love-to-hate" bad guys on a television series in a long time, President Logan, played brilliantly by Gregory Itzin, who was ROBBED of an Emmy. (Alan Alda...please!... proof that the emmy voters probably didn't even watch 24 and voted for a name.)
