<p>Let's get to it folks. We had the Official MLB Discussion thread, now we turn our attention to the NFL.</p><p>I'd like to start this thread off officially with the funniest line I've read all week (sorry Jets fans) from Deadspin.com:</p><p><font size="2"><em><a href="http://www.deadspin.com/sports/nfl/nfl-season-preview-new-york-jets-197368.php" target="_self">"Let's take this past offseason. It started inauspiciously with the departure of Herm Edwards (and I use the word "departure" instead "fleeing" only because there's much more misery to come). It was handled with all the aplomb of the Bill Belichick fiasco in 1999, but hurt more, because we all fell for Herm, breathed in his energy, his endless optimism. <strong>How could we know he was football's answer to Ray Nagin -- clueless in crisis but full of answers afterwards?</strong>"</a></em></font></p><p>Let's go Giants!</p>

After witnessing Monday night's thrashing of the Green Bay Slackers and the "didn't miss a beat" play of Sir Carson Palmer, all I can say is <img border="0" src="http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c34/Gvac/BengalSupersig.gif" /><br />
The Eagles were very busy over the last couple days. they started by trading Mark Simoneau and a draft pick for Donte Stallworth. Then today they released Todd Pinkston and Koy Detmer and brought back AJ Feeley.<br />

Palmer is one hit away from being hobbled like James Caan in "Misery". We can say the same for our Chad, who I predict will be out for the season by game 5. Kellen Clemens in 2009!

I'm watching this on ESPNEWS so no link. Two breaking items in the last couple minutes: Chargers LB Steve Foley was shot and wounded and Ben Roethlisberger is undergoing an emergency appendectomy. Great timing, one day after the Steelers decide to go with only two QBs on roster.<br />

That's a lot of verbiage about verbiage. Now... on with the verbiage.
You would think being taken off of network TV and put on ESPN that there would be less of this pandering to non-football fans, but there has been more of that shit tonight than I have ever seen on ABC. They might have spent more time with the camera on Jamie Foxx or Tom Cruise than on the field during the Redskins touchdown drive. And forget about calling the game. And Kornheiser is just falling into this. This is the worst sports presentation I have ever seen. I am 100% sure of this. This is a good game, but I just ahve to give up. I can't watch this.<br />

The Pats fuckin killed me tonight. The same sloppy play and mental errors that cost them the playoff game against Denver last year was in full effect again tonight. The Broncos pretty much own the Patriots at this point. At 2-1 I'm not going to lose a ton of sleep over this game, but New England has looked less than stellar the first 3 weeks and if their play doesn't drastically improve next week Cincy is going to absolutly shit on them. <br />

<p>Yah, NE looks to have a walk to the division title once again huh? They continue to get great coaching and play at QB with a very weak core of WRs. </p><p>Are the Steelers done? I know that if Marty takes the shackles off Rivers the Bolts should be a pretty damn good team but I really think the Steelers are done with Ben playing like this. He can't complete a pass downfield and the loss of the Bus and Randle El seem to be very evident in the overall scemes for the team. Also, the pass D looks weaker then ever right now. They shut down the run when they knew it was LDT up the middle Marty-ball style, but once he final grew a set and spread the field they couldn't even stop that either. I would love to think the Chargers beat up a great team, but I really can't see it with Ben playing so shitty, the D not making plays and their offense looking fucking awful.</p>

Meh...I'm not gonna lie and see this isn't annoying the fuck out of me, but it's not the end of the world. The team, I think, got lazy because of who they were playing and how much hype they were getting and they're paying the price since they're actially not THAT good. Ideally, it shuts up my fellow Bears fans who were already convinced this was a 16-0 year. Listen, if the '85 team couldn't do it, this one definitely wouldn't. They need to take this kick in the ass, hit the bye week and come back with some serious belly-fire.

<p>I see the Michael Vick hype machine is working again.</p><p>Wait you mean he's an NFL QB with 5+ years and he threw 7 TDs in 2 games ??!!</p><p>Oh my he really must be the greatest ever.</p><p>I surely can not believe that any other NFL QB has ever done that. Especially in so quick a time.</p><p>Now they're wondering if he can throw 2 TDs in 3 consecutive games.</p><p>I know I can't wait. He might even do it before Vince Young.</p>

And yes, they are a very good team. Their record over the last 2 years speaks to that. Their offense is still very flawed, but you can barely criticize the defense. You don't just "luck" as many wins as they have over the last 2 years.</p><p>That said, even if they had won this week I'd still be wary about the game against the Giants. It's going to be a battle no matter what. I think the Giants and the Patriots are probably all around better than the Bears at this point, so they're going to have to plan hard and attack fierce if they wanna win in NY. If I was the Giants, I'd just blitz constantly. Grossman is still too inexperienced, and when he's under pressure like that is when he starts fucking up. I think he's a great talent, but he still has a lot of learning and growing to do as a QB. It's gonna be a tough, tough win next week, and even if the Bears do win, it's gonna be ugly and painful and by the skin of their teeth.</p>

That commercial is awful the first time you see it let alone the 50th. And there were some terrible fucking calls in the SD game. So bad I was screaming at the tv and the announcers! I know they heard me. Seriously, the announcers would compliment the Browns when they get away with a penalty or draw one that wasn't true and rip the refs for making ify (they were real penalties too) calls against them. The Browns got a fumble call at the end of the first half that took at least 3 points off the board for SD and gave Cleveland 3. Not only did the receiver hit the ground with control of the ball and then it popped out, the whistle was blown as it happened. The announcers even had the nerve to state that the whistle wasn't blown but it was so fucking obvious that even my girlfriend heard it! Tivo proved it all and yet they reversed the call, which makes it even worse. Next, the Browns had about 5 penalties help them get third and long bc the refs couldn't see that Jerivicious (sp) was holding multiple times to draw penalties, one of which reversed a sack for a 15 yards loss and fumble recovered by SD. There are a ton more, too many to post about, but it got so bad that Marty almost got tossed and the fans were booing the refs until the game ended. The main thing is that the Bolts found a way regardless of the terrible calls. Perhaps they're happy bc if I'm not wrong didn't the Browns cover based on all this bullshit?
<p>God I hate the Patriots.</p>
