stuff that comes with me everytime i move are:

report cards and essays i wrote in grammar school and high school. i always ask myself why dont i just throw these away? ....as i'm packing them.

I've gotten a lot better at tossing things out that I no longer have any real need for, but I still have boxes that I never unpacked from when I moved into my house 6 years ago. They're mostly old trophies and plaques and I know I'll never display them so they stay in the attic. For some reason I feel it's wrong to just throw them out, though.

a Minnesota Vikings plaque i got for X-mas when i was 5 or 6. it will soon be 40 years old but not too too soon. i saw it at Greenes Sporting Goods when they were up in Journal Square as a kid and had to have it. It's sitting on the ledge in my basement and the only thing that's wrong is the sticker that makes the white horn on the side of the helmet came loose just a tiny bit on the end.

I haven't opened more than 5 of these boxes in the time I've lived here. I keep telling myself that I am going to throw it all away but it just seems so overwhelming that I can't bring myself to start.

I still can't get rid of papers I've written. I always feel like it took so long to do that I can't just throw it out. Plus maybe I could lend Earl my thesis on Dinosaur Arc Theory.

i have a big box of phish and dead tapes that i've had for years, and i'm starting to realize i can get any of those shows online, any time i want. in fact, i couldn't even tell you the last time i listened to an actual tape

I just threw out a ton of stuff this summer but I still can't part with a few boxes of
crap and I don't know why! I have a huge box of old cassette tapes. A lot of them
I have on CD but I just can't throw them out for some reason. I also have old
filmmaking papers and storyboards from high school I can't toss, and old letters
from friends and boyfriends. I also have my old band t shirts that are stuffed away
in drawers. I'll never wear them again--why do I hold on to them?

To get rid of that, it requires a decontamination station and four months of rehabilitation therapy

i have boxes and boxes of sports trading cards, mostly worthless 5 cent cards and for some reason i keep them,

i keep telling myself that one day i'll bring them to a sports trading cards show and make grab bags out of them and sell them for x amount of money just to get rid of them, and have a sign that says someones rookie card or other good card is potentially in there, just like the guys who did the same to me as i was growing up and collecting

so far i havent done it, but maybe one day

i've always been a packrat. I hold onto everything. Until recently. I used to save anything my boyfriends gave me, but before i moved, i either threw it all out or sold it, including jewelry the only things i held onto were high school notes, and stuff my ex who died gave me. There's no way I'd ever part with the stuff from my ex Chris that died.
