If you had to give up TV or music for the rest of your life, which one would you give up?

Although it means missing good shows like Lost and The Sopranos throw the TV out the window.

I'd have to give up tv, just because I think I'd be much more productive without a tv around. It's easy to get into a show and wind up wasting an evening watching a bunch of stupid shows.

If it were not for sports (and maybe The Soprano's) I wouldn't watch TV at all. Gotta have the music.

I am basing this on giving up TV, and not the TV set. I still gotsta have my DVD's!

Any show (other than sports) that you want to see on tv, is or will soon be available on dvd or the internet.

I was without TV for more than a year and it wasn't that bad, but I am moving into a place with free cable in 2 weeks so my opinion may change when I can again see Futurama, sports and Gargoyles again.

TV for sure. I prefer R&F to pretty much all television.

In college, I started dating a fella because he didn't have a TV and I extrapolated that he was an intellectual upperclassman, when in fact he had it stolen because he went out with his door unlocked and was an idiot.

I wish I could get those four years back.

as long as I can still listen to R+F and O+A, I'd ditch music and keep tv.

guess I'm being literal that R+F is not music, so I can give up music and still keep them....

23 to 9 in favor of keeping music. Maybe it's because most everyone here listens to Rand F, hence owning and enjoying some sort of radio or other music-capable device. I started giving up TV about six years ago when I started to realize what drivel most TV had become. Since then, there are only a few shows that don't make me get up and leave the room. Jeopardy holds my attention for the full half hour, and Lucky Louie and the Family Guy make me laugh out loud. To me, the rest of it is just low-rent dog shit.

they've completely muddied the water on this one

- downloading a tv show is ok if you give up tv?

- doesnt this mean that watching something on tivo is ok? if not what if I transfer my tivo to my pc - then it's ok?

- movies are ok, as long as we dont have the music track, even if we watch on a tv?

way too many loopholes

I agree with Bill ^^

People who claim "they don't really watch TV" are, very often, the same people who watch 4 hours of Football. In fact...some of these idiots actually buy the DVD set of the World Series from last year and watch all 20 hours of it a second time!

Still don't consider it "watching TV" though.

If I have to give one up, I have to give up TV, but I will admit I actually am a multitasker and often watch tv, surf the net and sometimes even listen to music. Not that I get much out of the Tv, but yeah and this is assuming that I can still watch movies on occassion, not that I need tivo or other forms of Tv, but Movies are sometimes needed.
