Ron bought this up a while back, and I find it amazing how many of my friends prefer Caddyshack. Caddyshack is a funny flick, but does it really stack up against Animal House? Me? I say Animal House, no contest.

Caddyshack was (and still is) fun to watch, but Animal House was much better on many different levels. I love them both, but the fact that Caddyshack is more popular today, is a mystery to me.

I have to say Caddyshack. I was 13 when it came out. I "got" both movies, but I "got" Caddyshack a little more.

Does that make any sense?

I must say Cadyshack big time, just never got into animal house like I did Cadyshack

I voted for Animal House big time. Caddyshack if great, but Animal House is fantastic.

i love the both the same way. for me they are two very different movies. one is about young people giving the finger to the MAN. the other is about adults having fun and trying not to take themselves too seriously while others around them are taking themselves way to serious.

so, i cant vote, since there is no BOTH option.

I've never been able to watch Animal House all the way throgh. It bores me. 'Shack all the way.
Animal House - 110%, if it was possible. I still love that movie; Caddyshack was never a favorite of mine until I was older, and by then I had heard most of the movie already by parrots who thought they were clever for quoting it that I just didn't care. Pah.

I think since Animal House came out first and was so much different than most movies of the 1970s it has to be my favorite. Besides, who doesn't like Bluto? I think Caddyshack and Airplane came both came out in the summer of 1980 and both were very good. I would probably rank Airplane ahead of Caddyshack.

I know it's not in the same class as Animal House or Caddyshack, but Tom Hank's Bachelor Party was always a fun flick.

I am unable to sit all the way thru either one of this flicks.

I have tried.

Holy Sophie's Choice, Batman!

I love both of these movies to death, but I can't forget how hard I laughed the first time I saw Caddyshack. From his first appearance in the film right through 'till the end, Rodney Dangerfield cracked me up every time he was on screen.

Please don't make me choose between Back To School and Easy Money.

Both are classics, but I am more partial to Caddyshack. You left out the greatest movie of all time however:

*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*

http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/6508/bluesbroset8.jpg

How do either or both of these measure up to Porky's?

Me, I'm a Caddyshack, but it's a VERY difficult choice to have to make.
Grew up working as a caddy, so, you know.
Airplane (I think it's Airplane!, actually) is an entirely different animal.
Also, the underage chick with the stuffed bra in Animal House, and
Danny's Irish girlfriend in Caddyshack? Same chick.

I only tried to watch Caddyshack once and didn't care for it. I love Bill Murray but
his character in that just turned me off. I liked Animal House when it came out
but I don't think it holds up very well. When I watched it again recently I just
didn't enjoy it. The jokes seemed really lame and it wasn't the great movie I
remembered. Maybe I'm just getting old.

I know it's the edited version, but if you're up late and bored, Caddyshack is coming on SPIKE in 3 minutes. I still prefer Animal House, though.

What? You can load a clunky tape, go through 10 steps setting a timer, and have
a nice movie on stretched, jumpy videotape while I just press one button....Ahhh.
Yeah, guess I am showing off. Plus I'm only 3 posts from 1000 so I had to
respond!

The Rodney factor gives it to Caddyshack by a nose
As much as I love Animal House, Rodney in Caddyshack as Al Czervik is probably one of the five funniest performances in a movie EVER.
I even put R.I.P. Al Czervik on my backpack after Rodney passed away

one other thing too is caddyshack is on or showed on tv on different channels at least once a week, i hardly see animal house scheduled to be on anywhere

not sure if that means anything but i thought it was an interesting quirk

I loved them both, but I gotta give it to Animal House because of some of the things I went through in college were very similar to the movie and it made it that much funnier. Living in a fraternity can make for some very crazy times.
Seeing this thread reminded me of this:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7053845

It's kind of old, so some of you may have already seen it, but it makes for interesting discussion. I usually have Animal House winning, which is why I bring it up.

EVERYONE i know LOVES the movie, so i decided to give it a chance last summer. i watched it from beginning to end, fell asleep twice, and had a mild chuckle at one point (the sight gag of bill murray teeing off on the flowers...very silly). i can not begin to imagine why everyone finds it so funny. animal house, airplane!, and blues brothers are all wicked better. thank you whistlepig for not making me feel like a heretic any longer!

Both are good int their own way, but I have hand it to Animal House, Caddyshack really only has 2 really funny characters, while animal house has far more, Caddyshack needs to be watched from begining to end. Animal House has the ability to be funny even if you come in and don't see everything else. Who would not laugh at Bluto's Zit Impression? Therefore the Title goes the Animal House but with Caddyshack getting honorable mention.
