NEED GOOD PUBLIC BEACH VIA TRAIN FROM ManhaTTAN [Archive]

hey guys..looking for a good (perhaps schwuggie free) public beach that's a train ride (Either NJ Transit or LIRR< preferably LIRR) from Manhattan.I'm thinking Long or Lido Beach...but we want something that also has a place to eat and stuff...nice / safe area.  I don't know the Jersey Shore at all...any suggestions? thanks buddays

Didn't Robert Moses build the overpasses low so that the busses out of Manhattan couldn't get past a certain point on L.I? Maybe a beach out there?

You got two good options:

Long Beach: better than Rockaway, and the A train back into town
from Rockaway is pure hell or,

Sandy Hook: Alright, it might cost a lot more (like $33 round trip), but
take a ferry from the east side (34th street) down the river, across
the harbor, and over to Sandy Hook. Good beach, and great ride there
and back.
