<p>hey guys..looking for a good (perhaps schwuggie free) public beach that's a train ride (Either NJ Transit or LIRR&lt; preferably LIRR) from Manhattan.</p><p>I'm thinking Long or Lido Beach...but we want something that also has a place to eat and stuff...nice / safe area.&nbsp; I don't know the Jersey Shore at all...any suggestions? </p><p>thanks buddays</p>

You got two good options:

Long Beach: better than Rockaway, and the A train back into town
from Rockaway is pure hell or,

Sandy Hook: Alright, it might cost a lot more (like $33 round trip), but
take a ferry from the east side (34th street) down the river, across
the harbor, and over to Sandy Hook. Good beach, and great ride there
and back.
