<font size="2">1880 - The American author Helen Keller was born. Keller had been left blind and deaf at the age of nineteen months after contracting scarlet fever. Despite these obstacles, she authored many books and inspired people throughout the world as she learned to read and write with the help of her remarkable teacher Anne Sullivan. </font>
