Futurama is BACK! For REAL this time!

<p><a href="http://www.tvweek.com/news.cms?newsId=10248" target="_blank">Comedy Central orders 13 new episodes of Futurama.</a></p><p>For those wondering why Comedy Central and not Cartoon Network or Adult Swim is ordering these episodes, its because Comedy Central has secured rights away from Adult Swim to air Futurama. That takes effect next year I think.</p><p>I am cautiously optomistic.</p>

Comedy Central hasn't announced when the episodes will air yet. They will cut up the movies and add some additional content. Maybe sometime in 2008.

I'm totally jazzed about the DVD coming out but, that's lame that they're gonna edit that movie and turn it into broadcast episodes. They did that with the Fam Guy movie. It kinda sorta screws over the shows biggest fans.

Mark Hamill and Sarah Silverman (and others) will make special voice-appearances. And, GOOD NEWS EVERYONE, the dvd will feature an episode of "Everybody Loves Hypnotoad".

I just heard about this yesterday and picked it up/watched it tonight. It is called Bender's Big Score. Basically about an hour and a half long futurama episode. I would say it is really only worth picking up if you are a fan. I am, so I enjoyed it but a good deal of it was inside jokes from the show.

It was hilarious throughout; I think they did a great job keeping it as funny as a 30 minute episode....

I spoke with Billy West at the Chiller Convention back in April about these movies. He told me that there was 3 or 4 movies being done and that they are supposed to be shown on Comedy Central sometime in the future, with the possibilty of showing up on Cartoon Network further along in a cut-up/episodic format.

The trailer for the next Futurama movie : THE BEAST WITH A BILLION BACKS is available on the bonus disc that comes with the dvd at Best Buy (only).

i thought the movie was good, but not great.
there were some really funny moments and the story was pretty cool. i guessed the big twist within the first 10 minutes and just didnt laugh as much as i was hoping to. i guess i had my hopes up too high. its a funny movie, dont get me wrong. but i would have liked to have seen a new season instead with a bunch of different episodes covering different topics.

i'll still buy the next movie too.

Yeah the Fox bashing was pretty great. Watched it last night, and it is filled with insider jokes so you do have to be a Futurama fan to appreciate Dog waiting outside the pizza place...etc... I enjoyed it thoroughly!

Good. It's a show that deserves to comeback. The movies they put out on DVD were just as good as any episode, if not better.

I didn't dislike any of them, but I thought they all suffered from the constraint of having to be both a full-length film and also able to be chopped up ino 4 seperate episodes. I'd love for them to get another season where they could go back to writing regular length episodes.
