I haven't checked out the third installment yet, but after receiving a couple of recommendations from others, I checked out show 2 earlier this week.  I thought it was great. It has a very strange vibe to it, and it's probably not what you expect, but that's what make it great.  I definitely recommend giving it a listen.  Great job, Sleeves.

I strongly urge everyone to check out a few episodes of "Atoms, Motion, & the Void."  I think it was kind of misrepresented on the Ron and Fez show Thursday, making it seem like "The Natural" was a one time bit done for the show.  It's a unique listening experience and Sleeves is an interesting and original guy.  Dim the lights, pour your favorite beverage, kick back and enjoy.  I hear there's a full money-back guarantee if you don't become a fan.

I'll be honest... at first I didn't like it. I gave it a chance before I gave up. Wow, it grew on me. I'm blown away at the excellent production and the incredible voice acting. The stories are spectacular (once I allowed myself to relax and just listen). Grade A material there, Sleeves.

There's apparently an article in a New Hampshire newspaper about AMV, but I can only find some quotes in another article about podcasting.  Here's a link to that <a href="http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061112/ENCORE01/111120111">article</a>.  Hopefully I'll be able to find the mysterious sidebar story.  Anyway, here's stuff excerpted from the podcast article: "When asked how podcasting might change the cultural landscape, Sean Hurley, creator of the endlessly fascinating theatrical podcast “Atoms, Motion and the Void” (see sidebar), said the true implications of the medium might be a bit counterintuitive. “I am interested in what seems like a new mode of socialized aloneness; lots of people sitting at their computers with aliases chatting with each other,” said Hurley, of Thornton. “On the face of it, it seems an alienating and dehumanizing way to spend your time. On a deeper level, though, I think it’s all a part of our own subtle cultural deconstruction. Not offensive to those in reality.  To someone who may read tha article whose life is their online persona... it could be seen as quite offensive.  I think it's unfair for him to paraphrase... no, butcher your thought, but make it look like a quote in the article.

I still haven't listened to the latest installment... I hope to get to it sometime today, but so far I've only gotten about 5 minutes uninterupted time.  BTW: I bought an MP3 player just so I can listen to AMV (and sometimes the RnF shows I miss) whenever and whereever I get free time.

I haven't contributed to this thread in a while because I'd gotten pretty far behind on the episodes.  It's not that I'd lost interest, but I'm fairly particular about listening.  For me, it has to be a situation where I'm listening on headphones -- it just envelopes you more that way.  I also can't be doing something else that requires real concentration while listening.  Surfing the internet while listening doesn't work for me, but traveling or performing some menial tasks.  Last night I was doing some cleaning, so it seemed to be an opportune time to jump back into the world of Sherwin Sleeves.  I figured I'd get through, at most, 2-3 episodes.  I started by re-listening to the last couple of episodes I heard (eps 8 and 9).  Then 10.  Then 11.  Then 12.  Then 13.  Then I took a break to transfer the rest of the episodes onto my iPod and then listened to eps 14 and 15.  As soon as I finished one, I was ready to listen to another, which lead to over four hours of nearly uninterrupted AMV while I cleaned.  All I have to say is that as much as I liked it before, I think the show is getting even better.On another board, AMV t-shirts were suggested.  I like that idea.  Maybe it's premature, but I'd wear an AMV shirt.  I'd prefer it was somewhat cryptic, like a sepia-tinted picture of the Bowl-a-Mat, a picture of a slightly charred copy of "Streamlines of the Futurist", a picture of a copy of a mourner's companion, or Lumpy's card with nothing else other than the web address.

ive been thinking about this. sleeves is doing his bit making AMV.. its sorta up to us to get it out there. does anyone on here know about itunes and podcasting? how can we get AMV out to a wider audience?.i thought it would suit BBC Radio 4 or 7 but apparently they tend to do all the commissioning in-house. most podcasts seem to be free its just a matter of getting picked up by itunes...how does he get onboard with that? email campaign anyone?

AMV21: "Grave Versions" - will be out next weekend, hopefully. I had a spare half hour and sat down and recorded an <a href="http://www.atomsmotion.com/uploads/impromptu1.mp3">Impromptu Show</a>...it's not a part of the AMV world...it's just Sherwin talking about this and that...Entertainment Weekly, Martha Stewart...nothing too fascinating.  But...it's 30 minutes of free form talk.   Nothing written out, no editing.  I play a little piano here and there and sing.Could be pretty goddamn awful...:)  No holiday wishes were included in this show.  I forgot it was a festive time of year. Pretty easy to do, so if people are interested in this kind of thing, I'd be happy to do make some more.   (thanks for the push johnniewalker...i wouldn't done it without yer idea...tho i don't know if this is what you meant...)

<a href="http://www.atomsmotion.com/uploads/impromptu2.mp3">Impromptu 2 </a>  has been uploaded.  I was even less prepared for this.  If yesterday's show was a B-, today's is a C+.  I'm just exploring the idea of free form.  This one is hard to post.  Just not stellar.  But I want to sort of keep wacking away at the idea.  Not worry too much about how good or how bad.  Just do them and post them and see what I think.  You are welcome to listen - but please remember that nothing special is intended. If anyone has any questions or things they'd liked discussed, please post here or pm me.  It would be fun for me to try to deal with such elements in the next "impromptu".  I'm trying to figure out how to do a "live" show and maybe have a couple of my rf.net buddies "call in"...but...slow as a leaf in a puddle I'm afraid.

This slight problem will be corrected for the next episode and when all is right and good, a live show will take place in the not too distant future. AMV21 will still be out this weekend.

FYI, Sleeves refers to, but forgets the names of Betty & Barney Hill, a New Hampshire couple, who's tale of abduction in 1961 is recounted in the book, The Interrupted Journey by noted UFOlogist John G. What episode would you use to turn someone onto AMV?  I've been telling my wife about the show for a while, but she hadn't actually heard it.  We were driving to NYC from Maryland, so I decided to play an installment for her in that car.  I went with AMV10 - Harvey Porter and the Pot of Hair, because it's a largely self-contained episode, it doesn't require any prior knowledge of the Stalwarts, the Antioch Fire, the Barel-Bain's etc., and the themes of the thiteenification and the actions of Harvey Porter line up nicely.  She greatly enjoyed it.  I'm going to introduce my father to AMV next.  Is there a better choice for an entry into the series?

AMV18 marked a mid-point.  I write each episode during the week that it's recorded and until I write it I don't know what it's going to be about.  Not specifically at least.  Sometimes the music that I'm listening to will shape the story.  The Big Black song definitely shaped the end of AMV21 for example.
