12 years ago today NYC was hungover from a game 7 Rangers Stanley cup victory the night before and preparing for a game 6 in which the Knicks could knock off the Rockets for the NBA title. The city was abuzz with talks of a dual parade and Messier and Leetch and Ewing Starks owned the back pages of the papers.

Now, the Knicks are a laughing stock and the only thing that saved the Rangers from being the same was a season long strike and an an imposed cap forcing them to dump dead weight and start fresh.

What a difference a decade or so makes...

Ah, good times, good times.

But this fall will be even better when as the Mets are putting the finishing touches on a Subway Series sweep, the NY Giants are busy compiling a 9-0 start on their way to a Super Bowl Championship.

A boy can dream.

Remember that Starks sneaker commercial, never mind the fact that Starks had a sneaker commercial, but he was on the playground and they were playing "Basketball Jones" by Tyrone Shoelaces aka Cheech and Chong backed by, Jesus, an all-star line up: George Harrison, Bille Preston (RIP) like, Mama Michelle Williams, it was unreal. Anyway, this isnt about the band, I just loved that ad.

"I'll go one-on-one against the world!"
