I thought i would share something i found this week. XM Radio is offering a Roady XT, w/Car Kit, W/Home Kit, and Remote for $9.99 and FREE Shipping. I found out cuz i had an old delphi, and the screen and dial/knob quit working, so i wanted to replace it. When i paid 50$ for just the radio with car kit, and called to activate it, the kid on the phone told me about the deal.

Its a special for Father's Day. Whats the catch? it has to stay activated for 6 months, and its for current subscribers only.

Thought i would share.

emPulse

The catch? They want subscribers to add radios, and the XT is one they want to get rid of. The FM signal is too strong for the FCC's liking.

Actually, they stopped selling the radios temporarily because of that problem, and applied a fix already.

See here, simple fix.

but that is what i like about it. :) I work construction and can set my boombox (am i in the 80's?) on my truck and tune it to the station and listen outside. One time i pulled up to one of my suppliers and went inside and thought "this is wierd.. they listen to Ron+Fez.." and it was my radio transmitting on the sto0pid christian station they listen too.. they thought the station went all wierd for a sec. Now they know when i am there for a delivery.

The new Innos they are selling have firmware 1.10 which removes the FM mod unless it's in a car dock. That's gay. I was an early adopter and mine still has the FM mod at 1.05. I am hoping for a firmware update soon because of a glitch or two, but I don't want to lose that feature.
i have the Tao XM2go. i got it in October and love it. but when i went to the car show and seen the new units i was floored at how small they are and how much louder they get. i have partially hearing lose so at times it is hard for me to hear the show while on the train. so, i might be getting a new unit for my birthday.

Companies usually give good deals like this only to new users. I'm surprised they'd shut out new subs. Why not get rid of the XT and increase your sub numbers with one deal?

HEy! I just got my Radio. And... its NOT what they told me on the phone, and I had even talked to them TWICE about it to make sure i was getting the deal right/correct. My package arrived and what was inside?

(1) roady XT

(1) car kit

(1) Antenna

(0) Home Kit

(0) Remote

So i just got the radio and car kit. this is bullshit. I just wonder if anyone else was told the same thing or whether i need to use the ether and rag after i make the phone calls for now on. I know what i was told, and now i feel like an ass because its not what i got, and now some of you have done the same thing. I am very sorry. very. I am calling XM now to pitch a bitch ..i am sure they will just cave and send me the remote. ok no they won't and ill have wasted 15 minutes yelling at some kid who's fault it is not, but ill feel mildly better. oh well ebay here i come.

emPulse

Empulse, GREAT heads up!! I got mine! It will be at the office Monday AM!! I'll have it wired into the wife's car 10 minutes later!!

Yes, the father's day promo goes into the wife's new car. I'll stick with the 1st generation SkyFi for my car. It has a cassette input. Plus I also have the SkyFi Boombox. If somebody brings 6 D batteries, I'll supply the XM at the game!

Since satellite doesn't use Arbitron, they rely on the number of subscriptions to figure their value as a company. Current customers already like XM, and it's only 8 bucks for each additional radio on the family plan. Therefore, it would be easier to up the number of subscriptions by having existing customers add new radios to their accounts.

Then again... Maybe I'm just talking out of my ass.
