how could the ECW world title not be defend in an "ecw rules" match?? doesnt that just make it meaningless?

Why wouldn't ALL the matches in ECW be under these so called "extreme rules"? I mean, it's in the freaking title of the brand! Doesn't make it that much extreme if they're getting disqualified for tables when that stuff happened all the time in the old days.

I agree it is retarded that ECW only has one EXTREME match a night but alot of people only think of the good with ECW. Not until very late in ECW was it official there was no DQ. I recall one match they were pumping was Terry Funk vs Shane Douglas and Douglas got disqualified when she bit Terry Funks ear. If this happened under the WWE you would go insane. Just like everyone bitching about Test. I recall Sid Viscous joining ECW and the fans cheered him like fools. Yes, ECW was great but they had there issues as well.

the difference between test and sid should be pretty obvious. sid (although i was not really a fan) was a world champion and a huge fan favorite. test on the other hand was a douche that was always stuck in some lame gimmick(motley crue's bodyguard, stephanie's boyfriend, ect).

Yes Vicous is much better than Test but do you recall who Sid was feuding with. VanDam and Sabu and he was dominating the two of them.
green_bay_jake
07-25-2006, 07:35 PM
yeah he was dominating them. they were trying to get him over as an unstoppable monster. i'm just saying that sid was a big name and test sucks balls. i guess he is a good fit for the new "ecw", but i just don't like him. it's not like he'll ever get a world title match, he's on the official ecw roster and none of them get title shots. i can't wait for big show vs. doink the clown next week.

I kinda have a feeling about what's going on with Paul E. and all these WWE guys getting title shots.

It could turn out that his plan all along was to try and have Big Show destroy all the WWE guys in an effort to in turn destroy the WWE itself. That's why he seemed so hesitant to put Sabu into a match with Show. It's not part of his plan.

Of course, that makes some sense so you know that isn't what's going on. Heaven forbid anything make sense in Vince's head.

this tuesday it will be

big show vs batista not sure if its a title match

SpicyMcHaggis
07-29-2006, 06:09 AM

The storyline reason is most likely because Big Show wants to take on all comers for the title. The real reason all these other guys are wrestling in ECW is for one reason and one reason only....ratings. They need these big main event type matches so that they can convince Sci Fi that people will still watch it after the summer. The more of the ratings they can rake in during the summer, the better chance they have of keeping ECW on the air so that they can sell more advertising time, more merchandise, and eventually, more PPV's with the ECW brand on it.

Vince McMahon is in the merchandise selling business. There's absolutely no appreciation for the actual wrestling.

It makes me sick.

How does an ECW macth end in a DQ. I hate to say it but The king is right, ECW is extremely crappy wrestling.God forbid if Test takes a bump and damage his roid physique in barbwire. I like the fact that they want to push CM Punk but on the other hand im tired of squash macthes.

Glad to see someone use actual wrestling moves in a match (Credible vs. Punk). When are we going to see real tag teams facing off? Like Doring and Roadkill vs The FBI or something like that? And by the way, Vince isn't going to see those boos as a wake up call. The fans paid to crap on the main event, and the WWE got the money from those tickets. Sad but true. The fans accept Kurt Angle I think because he has legitimate background in wrestling and they've seen him always put on good matches, regardless if he was with WWE or not.

Batista vs. Big Show should have been Extreme Rules to make up for the fact that they can't wrestle without them in front of that type of crowd.

Another thing. How many more days of suspension does RVD have left? He'll probably be back by Summerslam to get himself involved in the title match.

Also glad to see them push Sabu. Wish he would just aim a little better with that chair though, lol.

I saw him at J-Cup a few years back in Jersey Championship Wrestling and followed his career since. He's got intense promos and is extremely good at being a dick when he's a heel, case in point his last run in Ring of Honor where he won the title.

If you want to check out CM Punk's past work, just look at any of the stuff he did in Ring of Honor, especially his feud with Raven and Ricky Steamboat. JustJon

At least Shannon Moore has adopted a more ECW look and character. I think Matt Stryker could work, if they let him go off old ECW style, like when Bubba would call members of the audience cum guzzlers.
King Imp

That's all well and good, but it doesn't change the fact that Vince refuses to give the true ECW wrestlers a chance and would rather bury them with his own wrestlers. Kinda like when he first bought WCW. How many of those wrestlers had to job to Vince's guys in the beginning just to feed Vince's ego that his product was better?

I've been saying Striker should go to ECW to begin with. He's a good wrestler with a strong indy background in Japan and in NJPW etc. He's a NYC guy like most of the other guys in ECW. I don't see classifying him as one of "Vince's guys" really. He basically talked and wrestled his way on to their roster, and then was pretty much buried anyway. Since he got signed to a contract, he maybe appeared on RAW 6 times total.
SpicyMcHaggis
08-23-2006, 10:26 AM

Here's the thing, Striker (no "y") shouldn't have to do a teacher gimmick. Why does he have to be a teacher? Why can't he just be a wrestler? Same thing with Kevin Thorn. Why does he have to be a "vampire"? Why can't he just be a gothic wrestler? Why do these people need a hook in ECW? Why can't they just have personas that reflect their personalities? I thought when Striker was first going to be in WWE they were going to let him impersonate other wrestlers ala the Big Show a few years back after he did the Ultimate Warrior thing on Byte This.

CM Punk I understand because they let him explain his lifestyle. Same thing with Balls Mahoney. Shannon Moore had that punk thing going for a while but we haven't seen anything come out of it. Test is...well he's just way too big for ECW. Hardcore Holly isn't that bad in ECW I guess. He wrestles stiff, he acts like a dick all the time. Sounds like a natural character for him. I just hate the idea of giving people gimmicks that don't translate to wrestling nowadays. Let them be wrestlers with different personalities. WRESTLERS, not teachers, vampires or models.

Tommy Dreamer like 1 win 9 losses, Stevie Richards, Mahoney, winless. Myeh.

Well I guess you can't go back

Worst main event ever. Fucking gay sledgehammer is back. I didn't realize that would be the crowd, I was hoping for a real ECW crowd. I am so mad those hicks were popping for those 40 year old gay frat boys. When Helmsley says "Let's Get Ready to Suck It" doesn't it mean he is ready to go down on someone?

Just finished watching 'The Rise and Fall of ECW'. Fantastic DVD. Gave a complete history of ECW from the people who made it. Brought back so many good memories from the best era of wrestling. I really miss being as into it as i was but they'll never be another ECW like it was.

That's actually the biggest reason I'm a Striker fan. He has such good mic skills he makes a fantastic heel. As opposed to someone like, say, The Great Khali, who I'm not even sure what they're doing with him anymore.

I normally throw them out and not comment nor even care what they send me as wwe is a living hell. but this contract(which i will post at a later time) had a very intresting idea in it,and i thought i would tell the fans the direction vince mcmann is taking ecw.
my contract was to make a apperance at the first ecw/wwe ppv. i was offered $12.000.00 for one apperance in the hammerstien ballroom.(which by far other then the ecw arena has the best fans) so i read this and i considedered this offer.
so i gave johny ace a call disgussed this offer with him,and asked what role iwould be playing? what i was told was bullshit and i think the real ecw fans would f*** ing riot if they did this.
i was told the plan was for me to attack the big show on a few shows. each time i would get the upper hand. basicley awesome bomb him just kick the ever loving shit out of him. then bigshow vs i would headline the first ecw ppv.(of course joey styles is against this the pencil neck bitch)
this all sounded good until they told me at the ppv the big show was going to dismantle me and pin me within 30 seconds or less. you got to be kidding me right? in 30 seconds i had to job?
this is the direction wwe is going to take ecw. they are looking for a legond to crush and since i turned the offer down it is going to be someone else. i just wanted to let the TRUE ecw fans what direction there going with this brand.
This new ECW is OK but the old ECW was way better. It looks to muck like Smakedown and Raw which in my opion suck. I also think what made the OLD ECW better was it wasn't on every week so it was a great show because that had more time to plan it out.

They're pushing like 10 different heels on the show and there's only three babyfaces with any heat (RVD, Sabu, Punk) and I can't remember the last time I saw Sabu, although I admittedly haven't been watching every week.

My hope for the PPV is they do this...since I know it will never happen, I'll lay out the scenario:

-Gregory Helms cuts a promo on Smackdown saying there's no competition for him in the Cruiserweight division on Smackdown. This brings out the F.B.I. where Little Guido challenges him to a title match for the ECW PPV...they get interrupted by Coach who says RAW wants to be represented in this and he sends out Super Crazy. Then Heyman appears and says he has a special surprise, and brings back Tajiri as his officially endorsed candidate (since he's working the whole cult angle) to be the next Cruiserweight Champion.

So, we get a Four-Way International Dance like the old ECDub days but it's for the Cruiserweight Title. Little Guido vs. Super Crazy vs. Tajiri vs. Gregory Helms.

Then have Little Guido win the belt and bring it over to ECW...it's useless on Smackdown at this point anyway.

ECW would be the best place to put the Crusierweights since it's where most of them got popularized. Plus it would be a brand new title to enter into the mix. All they would need is a tag-team title and they're set. Smackdown already has a mid-card title and the Cruiserweights over there are barely ever used. ECW probably won't be getting a TV title soon. It builds the roster over at ECW and allows for more exciting wrestling.

Supposedly they're going to have a Hardy Boyz tag match on the card. I don't know who they'll face.

I really could not care any less about the Hardy Boyz reunion. I rather see them pushed as singles stars. Instead, they'll reunite, have a couple good matches and then have nobody to face because there's no tag division on any of the three brands (London & Kendrick and Regal & Taylor are the closest thing to one, on Smackdown).
