we were discussing this on the listening thread today. Is how many different rules in beer pong. (So many issues... how do you restack how the game ends, ot, can you blow, can you bounce, is the ball ever live, etc, etc)

Is there any kind of an official Beer pong rule book?

I always played beer pong like this:

4 cups; two on each side, in the middle or edge of their quadrant, like so:

Then you play just like ping pong. If you hit the cup, person takes a sip. If you sink it, they chug the beer. Play to 15 or 21.

Now, the other game played with a ping pong table is Beruit.

I have heard numerous people mistakenly call this beer pong, but that is wrong, it is a different game, played without paddles and you have to sink the ball in their pyramid shaped cups by throwing it:

Here are the rules that we played by in college. I think these rules originally came from some guys from Cleveland.

You have two teams of three guys who play without paddles. On each side of the table you have 23 plastic cups filled with beer (approximately a case of beer total). These cups are placed to form a pyramid with six cups on the base of the pyramid and then two cups above the top of the pyramid like "horns."

You play the game by bouncing or shooting the ping pong ball into one of the cups on the other side of the table. If you miss, the other team goes next. If you bounce or shoot the ball into a cup, the other team must drink the beer from the cup. The beer can be drank by one person or more members of the team, but once one person drinks, he or she cannot drink again from that cup. Once the cup is finished, it is removed from the table and then that team then tries to get the ball into one of the other team's cups.

The goal of the game is eliminate all cups from the opposing team's side of the table. If you win, then the opposing team must drink the cups that are remaining in front of the winning team.

We played beiruit, and we had a pyramid with the back row of 4 cups, then 3,2,1. You had to stand back and your hand that threw the ball could not reach past your cups.

each person got a turn and threw 2 balls, if you make both, you get them back and get to go again. if one lands in your cup, you have to drink it. Loser drinks the winners unfinished beers and the winner stays on.

If you hit then your teammate missed the opponents then had two shots.

Also we played if you bounced it in you could shoot again automatically... but you could also block a bounced shot. Guys could not blow out a ball spinning in the guy but a girl could..

At my college we had a rotating party that was established via my beer pong league. At each party we had a league (at first only 10 teams of 2) game in which two teams would play a best of five games each. At the end of the season the teams were then seeded and the official tournament wett down (usually right before finals). We had some girlfriends, no joke, take the stats of every game, along with Crazy Kapper, and he posted them after every week. Some of the categories were cups hit, shot %, last cups hit (last cup killer award), ot cups hit, knockdowns, double hits (both players hit), cups hit to make OT, tourney mvp, reg season mvp, and a shitload more. Best award ever given out was most times puked during the season. Lash won this one most year (semesters) bc he puked almost every time as he liked to play with real liquor.

We used the 3-2-1 racking system, a decent length table and only one rerack after it got down to 3. Big pyramid/small pyramid system. Like listed earlier, no blowing unless your a chick and if you knocked down any cups they were done. Absolutely no bouncing was allowed, but ballbusting and any type of annoyance was. You could even put you hand or shirt over the cups while people were getting ready to shoot just as long as you don't get hit by the shot in the air. This of course prompts a lot of people to just fire at the hand or object, which in turn meant we had lots of spills especially at the end of nights.

We also through a "beer olympics" party twice a semester where we picked teams of 5 or 6 out of a hat with country name and all through in 5 or 10 bucks. Teams competed in flip cup, timed keg stands, darts, beerpong, quarters and wheel barrel races to end it (crazy ending to say the least). Winning team took all. We'd usually have about 10 or so teams and it fucking ruled. Some of those days are quite a blur!

I say time for the first ever RON FEZ.net Beer Pong Tourney!!! Let's roll!

Here is a good site for Beirut

http://beirut-guide.com/rules/house_rules_generator.php

There are so many different variations of the game. At Gettysburg we played with 2 triangles of 6 cups with a full beer in the middle. Once a cup was hit, it was removed.

We also played full contact... anyone could go for loose balls.

God I miss that game
