Why did MNM break up?

I've read that there is a backstage story why they broke the team up and it is a sensitive issue.  i read pwinsider, but won't pay for the Elite part and thats the only spot that seems to give details.  anyone know what happened?

I've heard a couple of different takes on it. One is that Melina is a
real bitch backstage and Nitro is banging her so he acts like a prick too so
Mercury has been trying to distance himself from them. But then I
also heard that Mercury checked into rehab.<br />

<span class="post_edited"><br /></span><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>A combination of all three.</p><p>&nbsp;The original plan was to break up MNM down the road... sometime in 2007, from what I've read.&nbsp; It's normal for a good tag team to break up... the Hardy Boyz, Team Angle, etc.&nbsp; One of the few reknowned tag teams that stayed together is the Dudleys.<br /></p><p>Bar none, Melina is the most hated person in the SD! lockerroom.&nbsp; It's said that her attitude is like &quot;Sunny at her worst&quot;, which is a pretty lofty position.</p><p>Mercury did fail a drug test, so they accelerated the plan to get Melina and Nitro off SD!, while Mercury is in rehab.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The best part about this is, Mickie James and Melina HAAAAAAAATE each other.&nbsp; Hardcore hate.&nbsp; This will be fun to watch.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Here's a dumb question - if Melina is such an attitude problem, why is she still around?&nbsp; It would seem that the attitude issues of Joy Giovanni, Christy Hemme, Gail Kim, and Nidia paled in comparison to the issues that Melina has circling her.</p><p>Is it strictly because Melina can work?</p><p>&nbsp;</p>

I'm also surprised nobody has mentioned yet how great London and Kendrick are. Actually not really because I think I'm the only one who likes them. So much happier with them as tag champs.

London and Spanky are awesome. Hopefully, since SD! actually pays some
sort of attention to their tag division, they'll really get a chance to
shine now that they have the belts on them. I'm a hug London mark, so I
can definitely see this leading to bigger and better things.<br />
