View Full Version : Ballpark Review - Turner Field in Atlanta

OK, I travel a lot on business and since I don't frequent local escort services, I spend a lot of time visiting MLB ballparks. Today, I'm in Atlanta for a convention dealing with Oncology so I wanted to play hookey. The Braves were in town for a 1 pm with the Arizona Diamondbacks and I've never been to Turner Field so it was an easy decision: Metastatic Cancer Discussions vs. Afternoon Baseball on a beautiful day.

It started out well. I was in line for tickets when some guy yelled out - "Anyone want a free ticket to the game?" I said yes and soon was seated on the second level right on the third base line behind the dugout. Pretty good seats. I bought the guy a couple of beers to thank him for his generosity.

However, I was sorely disappointed by the food and beer options. If it didn't have the word "Budweiser" in its name it wasn't sold. Also the hot dogs were atrocious. Flavorous with a ridiculously large bun. Part of the whole baseball game experience is enjoying good beer and decent bad food. This stuff wasn't even passable. I even tried a local option - a "Georgia Dog" that had both cole slaw and Vidalia onion relish on it. It was not good. Not at all. And I've had Slaw Dogs at other places down here and enjoyed them, most notably "The Varsity" drive-in, but these were awful.

Oh, and the fat redneck giving his fat redneck wife an erotic backscratch directly in front of me really didn't add to the viewing enjoyment.

Overall, even though I got in for free, the stadium gets a C- from me.

What's your ballpark review? Major or minor league.

Going to Atlanta and expecting a good hot dog is like going to Manhattan and expecting good sweet tea and fried chicken.

I've only been to a few ballparks, but the nicest one. amenities-wise, has been Camden. Fenway, however, is my favorite park. There's just an aura of greatness and real baseball essence that hits you when you enter.

I've eaten a lot of stuff and enjoyed it. I could probably live in almost any kind of somewhat civil society and get alone fine.

Hmmmmm, interesting discussion. What is the best food in the world, or maybe what is the most widely appreciated food in the world?

You are probably right with Italian, but I'd love to throw a vote in for Chinese too. Well, the Americanized Chinese food we buy.

Turner field is the only baseball stadium I've ever been to. I love it.

I've been by Turner Field but never in it. It looked nice though.

I'll have to revisit when the renovations are done. Cleveland Municipal Stadium gets an F but Indians fans get an A. The best hot dogs out of all the stadiums and arenas that I've been to are at the Bell Centre in Montreal. The toasted New England style roll makes all the difference.

Atlanta sucks. The Stadium is ok but the city is not worth going to.
