Wed May 31-

VH-1 Rock Honors ( replayed at 11pm tonight)

Def Leppard I caught this halfway through. Def Leppard proved once again that they suck shit and are nothing more than a studio band that Mutt Lange had to spend over a year just to teach that idiot joe elliot how to sing in key. STUDIO wise, Def Leppard sounds pretty good. Live, they just blow butterfly dong.

- ROCK OF AGES (LIVE from VH-1 Rock Honors)

-

HOLY SHIT NOW THIS IS A SUPERGROUP PAYING TRIBUTE TO KISS

Scott Ian - bass

Slash, Gilby Clarke & Ace frehley - guitars

tommy lee - drums

Rob Zombie - throat

GOD OF THUNDER (live kiss tribute)

Gonna grab some audio of the Judas Priest when it replays at 11.

** Kiss is playing now with an ace imposter I think. Ace just played with the supergroup.. this guy comes out looking a lot younger in make up .. I dont think its peter criss either. but they are wearing their outfits.

-

I actually find it in bad taste for Queen to carry on without Freddy!

He makes no attempt at all to hit the higher notes and his vocal style just does'nt fit the music. I still think George Michael would be a better fit. John Deacon wants no part of the new lineup, and I can't blame him.

I LOVED the "super group." Rob Zombie delivered God of Thunder. I just wish Ace was in make-up. But we can't have all that we wish, can we?

I can't wait until this DefLep performance shows up on youtube. Every keeps talking about how bad Joe Elliot sounds these days.

His voice is toast. I've seen them several times over the years and each time, it gets a little bit worse.

They should just do one more record with Mutt, have a hit or two, and then gracefully bow out.

I didn't watch because I can't stand having Paul Rodgers sing Queen, but I really did want to see Priest, was that performance worth looking for re-runs?
Nice hair transplant Paul.

And the reason Paul Rodgers doesn't try to hit the higher notes is that he can't. He can't even hit some of his Free/Bad Company notes anymore.

I hated that "Queen" clip.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrgDrT-zvD4&search=vh1%20honors

I absolutely HATE when a singer goes out of his way to change every single line. Some singers feel COMPELLED to make at least one tiny little change to every line in order ro make it their own. It's desperate and the song suffers for it. Give us the melody we know and, maaaybe, take some liberties here & there towards the end.

Axl Rose did that on the GnR cover of "Sympathy For The Devil". He simply HAD to do something to change every line. Sometimes it's just a tiny little inflection but. still...it's different. Paul is doing it on this Queen track. Screw that. It doesn't sound like "personality"...it just sounds like ego. You didn't write. Suck it up.

Take ownership of your own songs, Loser.

This is usually where somebody writes "if I wanted to hear the record...I'd stay home and listen to the record". I'm not saying it has to be sterile. I'm not saying it has to be "perfect". I'm saying; all those little changes don't make the song BETTER. They are changes merely for the sake of making changes. Sometimes, I much prefer the live version of a song. Sometimes, I prefer a cover over the original.

This is not one of those times.

Damn that Queen clip really pissed me off.

------

EDIT: still looking for the Def Leppard clip.

I saw them in concert. They blew me away. I love the 80's rock like Def Leppard,KISS,Winger,Warrant,GnR,AC/DC etc. But i love punk rock. so easy to connect too.
I love punk also, but I have no idea what that has to do with the All American Retreads.

AAR isn't even close to being punk.

That being
said, I can't understand why the didn't get George Micheals to front
the band for this show or this tour. I thought he did an excellent job
at the tribute concert and it would just be silly to pick somebody
else, at least he could sing a little like Freddy, Rodgers can't even
do that.
