how do you practice self-protection? do you carry pepper spray? have you taken any self-defense courses?
i carry pepper spray around and i've also taken one self-defense course.
sometimes, when it's late late at night and i've got my bike with me, i ask a guy friend to come home with me just to be safe. if i can't get somebody else to come home with me, i'll take my bike on the train and i keep my eyes open for anything suspicious.
if i'm at a show or at a party or wherever, and a friend of mine is drunk or high, i make damn sure that she's getting home alright.
i don't walk alone late at nights (not anymore) cuz it's too scary. it's really fucked up that i have to keep my eyes open for any dicks that might want to rape me, rob me or hurt me in any way.
so, how do you ladies practice self-protection?
guys, what do you do to make sure that your lady friends are safe?

I don't carry anything... I
don't know, maybe I should. I
grew up in Harlem, and I
definitely would worry
sometimes going home late at
night. But still, I take the
subway up there at 3 am and
don't think to much about it.
I stay aware of my
surreoundings, and have never
had anything even remotely
close to a problem. I just
avoid out of the way places.

I don't carry anything. I know
I should (I run at night) but
it would be *my luck* to get
busted for carrying pepper
spray or a lame-ass pocket
knife when/if someone attacks me.
Until then, I rely on my
"witty" comebacks... such as...

I wish I loved the human race; I wish I loved its silly face; I wish I liked the way it walks; I wish I liked the way it talks; And when I'm intoduced to one; I wish I thought, What jolly fun!

Basset Hound count?

Compliments of WWFallon.
I am an extremely old fasioned kind of guy in that I will not let a woman walk to her car alone or walk home alone. I also wait until they get inside their house before I pull away when I drop them off. Sometimes they resent it, but I don't care. It helps me sleep better.
I have never carried anything for protection, and thankfully have never needed anything.

if i wasn't such a paranoid freak, then i wouldn't be worrying so much. but i'm extremely paranoid, so i need the pepper spray and anything else that will make me feel like i'm safe.
nothing bad has ever happened to me, but some of my friends have gone through some pretty bad encounters with rowdy men and sleazy drunks at night. one of my friends has even gotten slashed in the face while going home from work. it just sucks.
so yeah, most of the time, i'm carrying my pepper spray.
