For me was when I was in Florida for the 1st time when I was 11. I went to Melbourne beach and not using any sunblock I got the worst sunburn ever. There is no worse feeling when it hurts to move any part of your body when your skin feels like its on fire. Ever since then Whenever i go to the beach or will stay in the sun for a long period of time i.e. summer bbq I use sunblock and im good to go

I have another bad sunburn story. I initially had a really bad alergic reaction to shellfish the night before I was supposed to fly out to Cancun. My eyes were nearly swollen shut. I had no other option but to go to the Emergency Room at my local hospital. They gave me some really strong antibiotics but failed to tell me that I should stay out of the sun even though I told them I was flying to Cancun at 8:00 am the next morning. To make a long story short - I got the worst sunburn ever - with blisters all over my back. I spent a good part of my vacation sitting in a bathtub full of ice water. I probably should have seen a doctor but there was no way I was going to go to a Mexican hospital.

1999. I was in the infantry.

My ankle had a fracture or something like that. After a few days...it really started to kick my ass. I was limping and in a lot of pain during a morning run. After a few mins, I could barely move my entire leg. I was in agony and I fell to the back of the formation.

I simply could not run anymore. I stopped and took a knee. My Sgt came over, told me to put a tampon in and get back in formation. I slowly tried to get up. It wasn't fast enough for him and he gave my bad foot a swift kick (as if to say "hurry up, you!")

The intense wave of pain was unlike anything I'd ever felt before or since. It must've made a breaking noise or something because some soldiers from another unit who happened to be a few feet away turned their heads and looked at us. Without a word, they came running over, picked me up, and carried me to their vehicle. From what I was told...I was babbling incoherently the entire way to the hospital.

BTW...I ETS'd in 2000. I still can't run.

Last January (2005) I managed to get second degree burns on the roof of my mouth from a cheese dip at Uno's.

The whole side of my head pulsated for weeks. I could hardly eat or drink anything, not even water. I had to always keep my head tilted to one side to keep anything from getting on the burns. I had constant headaches. Eventually had to go to the doctor and they couldn't believe that I got this from cheese dip. Doc gave me meds and pills that I had to use in order to dull the pain.

I've had surgery before, broken bones, and some really bad cuts but out of everything this was the worst. I'd rather get my ACL repaired again than have to go through this. Not only was the pain bad while just sitting around doing nothing but anything that I put in my mouth (yeah, penis too I suppose, pre-emptive strike) made it hurt so bad I would be brought close to tears.

I had to have the inside of my nostrils cauterized because of all the nosebleeds I was having (because I was doing a lot of blow). I guess the veins were too close to the surface of the skin and they'd just keep breaking open. Anyway, it was outpatient, so I wasn't expecting much. They gave me anesthesia, and it was pretty numb. They put this mercury based solution on and then got to the cautery.
Oh my god.
I've been told I have a high pain tolerance, and this was the worst constant stinging pain I have ever felt in my life. The anesthesia that felt like it had numbed everything suddenly felt non-existant. I'm sure if it hadn't been there, I would have passed out. It got so bad that even though I wasn't really crying in the traditional sense, tears were just involuntarily streaming down my face, mixing with the mercury and going right into my mouth. It tasted awful.
On the other hand, it's virtually impossible for me to have nosebleeds out of that nostril anymore.

My family was grilling some steak on an old webber gill one summer night. After the steaks were done, my mom pulled the grill off and put it on the ground on the grass between my garage and my neighbor's garage. So right after she did this, I tossed a ball over into my neighbor's yard. Deciding to take the shortcut, I cut in between the garage and stepped directly on the grill with my bare feet. My brother did some quick thinking and immediately tossed me in the pool. Having second degree burns on the bottom of my feet required me to sleep with my foot in a bucket of water for a few days.
WTF, I quoted Whistlepig & wrote my response & it didn't show up. Anyway, labor & delivery is no big deal. I was in labor for 4 days. And the pusing part was actually not that hard. But then again I might have a high pain threshold. I fell out of a fist floor window & got hit in the head with a bat when I was 4 yrs old.

Went to doctor with flu symptons and some pain, he sends me home only to have my appendix rupture and I walked around for almost two weeks that way, all the time his office is telling me to take the antibiotics and tylenol. (yes, I sued and settled)

After surgery, I had internal staples (still do) that ripped through some of the flesh. Feels like a knife being thrust into my side and twisted.

I did break my shoulder blade in a car accident, but I had also bruised my spine so that I had no feeling in that shoulder or arm until after it healed. I imagine that would have been just as bad.

I forgot about this: When I was going through puberty, for some reason, whenever I would fly and we would land, I'd have incredibly sharp pains throughout my entire head - it literally felt like someone was stabbing me in the head with an icepick, so much that even days later, my ears would be sore. I'd be on the plane yelling like a maniac and people would stare at me.
The odd thing is that before and since that time (when I was like 13-15) I've been pretty much fine.

Toothaches are absolutely devestating in terms of level of pain. I also had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled at once and the painkillers wore off on the ride home, even though the dentist insisted they'd last about 4 hours. It was like someone was driving a nail into all four corners of my mouth at once.

I think the migraine headaches I get top the list, though. Yesterday I came home from work early with a particularly vicious one and there's literally nothing you can do to ease the pain. It hurts if you sit up, lie down, or stand. No pain relief products work either. You just sit in agony until the vomiting begins and that usually stops the throbbing enough to let you pass out. 24 hours later I feel much better, but it's still a pretty bad headache.

Can't top a lot of these, but here's mine. I have had a bad knee for years following a football blow-out. Very little cartilage left. Fast forward about 10 years later.

We had just gotten KC, and I was training her with a long leash in the park. We were doing our thing. Keep to my left. Heal, etc. All of a sudden, a squirrel comes scrambling out of a tree. Being a rambunctious Terrier pup, KC cuts across me to chase the squirrel. The leash wraps around my leg and completely pops my knee out of place. It felt like somebody whacked me with a bat.

So there I am lying on the ground with a dislocated knee. Holding onto a puppy chasing a squirrel. I had to reel in the pup and get home right away. Only one solution.

Left hand on the left side of my calf. Right hand on the right side of my thigh.

POP!

HOLY SHIT! I saw a flash of white light and immediately started sweating like I was caught in the rain. I laid on the ground sobbing for 3 or 4 minutes, sucked it up and got up. Pretty much hopped all the way home with the dog in tow. The sucker swelled up like a volleyball.

Im about to be in some serious pain, if that counts. Next tuesday Im getting spinal fusion surgery. They are fusing three vertabrae in my lower back. The incision with be next to my belly button but the thing I'm worried about most is the catheter. That, and the fact that the surgery is on 6/6/06.

This isn't the worst pain ever, but I didn't want to start a new thread.

I was just brushing my dog, and I couldn't find the thing I always use to pull the hair out of the wire dog brush. I started pulling it out with my fingers. I must not have been careful enough, because I jammed one of the wire brush brads under the fingernail of my index finger. This hurts like a MOFO!!!! It's all bruised and shit, too.

I fell down 13 stairs in my sorority house.
Completely sober... my heel got caught in the rug and I tumbled head over heels and landed on my shoulder and head.

The paramedics put me in a neck brace and on a back board and I have never cursed so much in my life. My friend who rode with me was appalled.

I just ended up in a sling with a brace for a few weeks but the initial shock and pain ... probably propelled by fear too... was really scary.

There have been many times, due to boxing and wrestling and various other things.

One of the worst pains I have ever had in my life happened to me when I was a freshman in high school. That day was pasta day in the cafeteria. I purchased stuffed shells, as they were super awesome and yum. I started eating, and eventually I took a bite on something with a weird crunch....and then MASSIVE metal shocking pain.

Apparently the lunch lady scooped up the stuffed shell with a big sliver of aluminum foil stuck to the bottom. This sliver got stuck between my one normal tooth, and another tooth with a filling.

Anyone that has touched a fork or something metal near a filling knows that metallic shocking feeling. It took me about ten minutes or torture and massive pain to find dental floss to get it out. I will never forget that. :glurps:

I had roid surgery of the hemmo type on my 26th birthday. I even had to sit on one of those inflatable donuts for a week. The worst pain I've ever felt in my whole life was the first dump I took after the surgery. Two day after my asshole was cut up and stitched back together I woke up in the middle of the night feeling like I was pretty close to shitting myself. So I hobbled over to the toilet and proceeded to scream and cry like a girl when it all came out. Im pretty sure I passed out for a moment. Every dump I took for two weeks after that hurt like a bitch but not quite as bad as the first one. Thank god for sitz baths.

How does a sliced asshole ever heal? It's like a wound that you rub feces into at least once a day.

You have to constanly clean it. You can't scrub the hell out of it but a few times a day you have to get in there and wipe it down really well. It bled for about a month and slowly but surely there was less and less blood. I made the mistake of smelling the blood/shit mixture after I wiped one time and it smelled like a dead animal on the side of the road.

Not sure it could have been when I fell off a ladder and broke my elbow. But when my appendix had to be taken out because it was bursting that was pretty bad also. But what I think wins is the time I fractured my skull and required brain surgery and the years of headaches that I more or less would have taken death over having them while I was relearning to read and write and dealing with the loss over half of my long term memory and having a pretty shitty short term memory

I grew up playing soccer and had countless injuries. A few times, I had my kneecap actually go around to the back of the knee. That knee cap has to be put back where it belongs in a timely manner, so usually it was done right on the field. The pain of the occurrence was bad enough but when your coach grabs your kneecap and pulls it back into place, there is no greater pain in the world.

Everyone knows who to whip a wet towel and you get that crack sound. That crack is the towel breaking the speed of sound.

Maybe you've got it snapped on your ass or your back and one time or another.

I got one on the tip. Tip of the dick. In fact, I think the sound barrier was broke on top of or very close to the inside of the pee hole.

I would not wish that pain on my worst enemy. If I didn't have a bathing suit on, I probably would have exploded into dust and guts.

Gvac: Toothaches are absolutely devestating in terms of level of pain.

When I was student teaching, I started grinding my teeth in my sleep and shattered one of my molars, which immediately became infected.

The pain kept me up for 24 hours straight even though the infection gave me a constant fever of 104+ and I was delusional. My face swelled up like those masks at the end of Brazil. I had to be hospitalized.

Later offered me a root canal to "save the tooth". I had the bastard pulled. Sayonara traitor!

I think I am currently in the worst pain of my life. I had a tooth ache Monday, no big deal. I went to sleep, and woke up Tuesday with my face swollen, and my teeth killing me. I go to the dentist, he says a filling I had developed a "microscopic leak" and made the tooth dead, and caused a bad infection in my upper jaw. I have never experienced anything like this before in my life, it unbearable. Thank God for Vicoden.

I have had children and I can tell you that a kidney stone is equal or if not worse than childbirth, worst pain I have ever had was a kidney stone and it took the dr's hours to figure out that is what it was, damn web md made me think my appendix was about to burst. Never cruise webmd prior to leaving for the emergency room.

My gall bladder attack last summer was some serious shit.

Four and a half hours of being doubled over in agony with the added bonus of the feeling of a sword being stuck in your ribs.

I've broken my wrist and several fingers and the pain from them was nothing compared to the gall bladder.

I had a motorcycle accident and really screwed up my leg. To stabilize my bone after my five operations -- I guess it was the last operation they out 4 large rods in my leg they stuck out like 4 inches and went all the way threw my leg. Anyway, the worst pain I ever had was when the doctor took them out, at his office with no anesthesia, drugs or anything. It was supposed to be painless but they were wrong. It hurt more than anything I went through in the hospital which included debreading my league in a hot tub which was bad enough but this was 4 times worse. I cannot even describe the pain, but man it sucked.

I just went through the same thing, and the pain was so bad at times it dropped me to my knees. I chipped a tooth a few years ago, and I never did anything about it, and it got infected. When the dentist did the root canal a month ago, he couldn't fill it because it was so badly infected, pus and fluid all collected under the skin in the roof of my mouth. 1 week of penicillin didn't clear it up, and had to go another week on a stronger antibiotic. As soon as the root canal was done, no pain at all.
