Carl Stalling is a genius. A true genius.

Not only did he have to write/conduct all the music for the old Warner Bros cartoons but, also many many (almost all!) of the sound effects in those cartoons were performed LIVE by the orchestra. Everything from hammers banging to the "plink plink plink" of Bugs walking on his tip toes. It was almost all made organically from the band, perfectly synched to picture. Amazing.

The Fairly Odd Parents song rules.

So does the Ninja Turtles song, even though now the lyrics are so cheesy I have to laugh/cringe at it.

The Flintstones had some great tunes. The Way-Outs were my favorite.

My favorite one was always, "scaredy cat" with porky pig and sylvester the cat. When they go to the mansion, and the mice keep trying to kill them, and only sylvester realizes it. They play very small pieces from the funeral march portion of chopin's piano sonato no. 2. That's pretty cool.

Of course porky pig singing "kill the wabbit", is pretty awesome too.

ANother favorite was The Cat Concerto, the Tom and Jerry episode when Tom was playing the piano at a concert and Jerry was inside trying to avoid the piano keys.

I can still hear the song in my head, but I'm not sure if it was an actual piece of classical music.

It might as well be, because all the classical music I've learned started with cartoons.

I have a song by Sylvester the Cat and back-up singers. It starts in my brain ever so often and then goes around and around while I try to remember the missing lyrics. Does anyone know them? This song would be from the late 40s or early 50s. And it goes like this:

Back-up Singers:
Scaredy cat, scaredy cat.
Sylvester is a scaredy cat.
He used to be so bold and fine.
A jellyfish has got more spine.
Some lyrics by Sylvester here.
Why that's absurd; it's quite ridiculous.
You must be kidding; you're trying to tickle us.
You surely must be poking fun.
All cats have nine lives not just one.
Sylvester:
I had nine lives while learning to skate,
I fell on my head then there were eight.
More missing lyrics
Three lifes left. What a pitiful few.
Crossed the street without looking then there were two.
Two lifes left when I fooled with a gun.
Didn't think it was loaded, now I have one.
More missing lyrics
Back-up Singers:
From now on Sylvester is taking it slow
Cause he only has one life to go.

Can you fill in the blanks?
